Quoted from Stemmy:

It's confirmed Halloween

Love you, Spooky, but I don’t think this is one for me.

Glad to know that they’re going to sell out instantly regardless of what a few non-fans of the theme do. Good luck with the release, Spooky! I’ll renew my Fang Club again for next year in hopes that the next game is one I like.

Quoted from kciaccio:

Rob Zombie Halloween or Original is the question now..

The end of the video showed “Compass International Pictures” and no other credit. So it’ll be the original.

Quoted from Zablon:

What if...this is their ultimate troll and it isn't actually Halloween at all?

I'm currently in denial, too. Yesterday I was lining up the pin that I'd sell. Today I'm checking out rumors again.

Quoted from BallyKISS1978:

Halloween seems to be a fan pin they wanted to make more for themselves than a sound marketing business decision. Glad they are in a position to be able to do that. But Evil Dead/Army of Darkness would have been one I would have even considered.

I think there are themes that would have sold better (ie: Evil Dead), but remember that Spooky is limited in production speed. They are planning X months of games, and will sell every one they make before moving onto the next game. In that kind of regime, the best theme is the cheapest theme that will still sell out.

I bet Halloween was much cheaper to license than Evil Dead.

Has anyone heard or extrapolated how long Spooky might tie up their production with Halloween?

Quoted from Bryan_Kelly:

And why the fuck should I care what Cary and Kenada think.
Why the fuck should anyone care what Cary and Kenada think.
Why the fuck should we care what ANY podcaster thinks.
Have they played the game? Yeah, I didn't think so.
I have and dare I say, this is Spooky's best layout so far!
And there were two others playing with me and Chuck, and they thought the same thing.
Maybe I should start a podcast.

Preach.

You wouldn’t ask Dr Oz for medical treatment. You wouldn’t form your political world view from Tucker Carlson. Why would you let some random yammering Youtubers dictate your opinions on pinball?

Just because someone spends a lot of time talking, doesn’t mean they know much. Nobody has first-hand knowledge about the game right now, so it’s premature to form opinions on anything but the theme. (And with Luke’s post, even that may be pre-mature right now!)

#5141 2 years ago
Quoted from Beechwood:

Ummm, didn't he just post he played it with Charlie? Pretty sure that IS first hand knowledge

Right, Bryan. I meant us unwashed masses here on Pinside.

Quoted from rai:

I have an open invitation to anyone who would like to help me fix my R&M shots. Im not a master pinball builder so it’s a bit overwhelming to receive a pin that doesn’t shoot properly. I can make the left orbit maybe one in 10 tries maybe less.

Unless you have a local R&M friend, your best bet is probably to check the R&M thread. There’s a lot of great “picture posts” there where people have outlined various fixes:
* In most cases some bending of the rail helps
* In some cases moving the spinner up/down/left/right helps (it can brick on the spinner if it’s positioned badly)
* A few people have had to adjust the diverter under the house
* Some people have had to do more serious adjustments to the “outer” rail on the left orbit.

Take the glass off, shoot it a bunch, and make small adjustments as you go. You should be able to make a significant improvement without serious adjustment. Or you could drive yourself crazy making it perfect.

You end up fixing this kind of sample variation with any NIB pin… I’ve never had a game that didn’t have to be dialed in when we bought it. Many games you pick up used are already set up by a previous owner, but from the factory you’re victim of sample variation.

R&M’s orbit is clearly a problematic one. More than most. But it’s far from the only game with a tough-to-tune shot. I’m sure everyone in this thread could rattle off a hate list! (Looking at you, Taxi skill shot!)

I’ll buy a Meatloaf pin, but only if he’s Eddie in Rocky Horror.

I don’t see how Rocky Horror could happen, but if it did, I’m first in line!

#5938 2 years ago
Quoted from Alaskanzen:

All be damned….. Tim Curry finally gets the pinball glory he has surly earned.
Meat is back on the menu boys!

I’m shivering with antici………….pation!

Quoted from SpookyCharlie:

Lol... thanks everyone! Ya'll keep speculating. I'll tell ya this, if there was something to say and not saying there is or isn't, I would be a fan of Rocky Horror or the Loaf. Not saying there is something to talk about, but probably not either of those if there was, which there might be. Or not.
Trust me. I would do anything... for pinball.
Back to work! Thanks for the fun today.

I get that you can’t tell us right now, and on the one hand I’m really happy you’re taking time to tease us. On the other hand, this tease has my head spinning!

It’s going to be a long weekend waiting to hear what’s coming!

#6564 2 years ago

Congrats on the new games, Spooky! The playfield layout looks fascinating, and I’m sure they’ll both sell out quickly.

I’ll be first in line if Rocky Horror ever does happen, and I’ll keep my Fang Club membership going for the next announcement.

#6588 2 years ago
Quoted from monkfe:

Me too...wtf...the most obscure theme I've ever heard...so many other good themes out there....never seen the show and I grew up in that era....

Just be happy they licensed two themes at all. These two aren’t for you, but if Spooky does more of this going forward we’re all more likely to get our niche theme. More pinball is good!

If I were an Ultraman I’d be peeing my pants right now. As it stands, I’ve got other pins to keep me busy until they launch something I AM a fan of, assuming JJP doesn’t come along with something mind-blowing before the next Spooky launch.

I believe Spooky previously said the design is a collaboration? Don’t quote me on that, but I could have sworn there was a post a few pages back.

#6601 2 years ago
Quoted from Frax:

Nah, but I'd still have to join to have a change to get one LOL....
I honestly was cool with them giving preference to previous buyers. There's something to be said for that kind of loyalty, but gatekeeping with a 45 buck fee is something else entirely.

It’s no big deal, the games are just $45 more than the listed price.

Think of it like Costco. Membership, then you buy stuff.

Quoted from Deezer5150:

This is addressed to the Spooky Team-
In the video with Charlie and Bug you mentioned that all orders from Spooky have to go through the website. One can no longer phone it in. What contingencies are in place if the website crashes due to traffic?

Or a distributor, to be clear.
