Quoted from mrclean:

I have a Spooky Fang club question...
So the last game according to their website was all sold out through fang club members.
They are charging for new fang club memberships which enable you to:
“2 Week Early Buy In On Our Next Game Launch! (Coming Soon!)
Fang Club Exclusive Access to Blood Sucker Editions of New Game Launches”
My question is are you guaranteed the new game by signing up as a fang club member ? What if they have 1000 games and 1001 fang club members that want to purchase the game. Are they overselling this membership just to sell you promotional items not guaranteeing you a spot since allocation will be beyond that of the total fang club members?
Im only interested in joining fang club if I’m guaranteed a spot to order a game.

No guarantees if you join.

Pretty gosh darn confident that you won’t get one if you don’t join though.

One of us. One of us. One of us.

Quoted from mrclean:

I’m not really worried about the $45 as I’m more concerned about securing a title and not paying 2nd market flipper price on pinside marketplace or other platforms. Sure $45 isn’t that much money but let’s say they have 2000 fang club members that’s $90,000. (Less whatever the promo items cost which is far below that) Oh and you may or may not get the game by being a member assuming they oversold memberships in relation to the say “blood sucker editions” they make.
You can’t buy games direct from Stern can you? Must go through a distributor so not sure why anyone would do that unless they are changing policy altogether.
Again all I’m saying is I would love to join a membership knowing what’s advertised is guaranteed not you have a chance. Would love to see Charlie SpookyCharlie comment on this Fang Club membership enrollment. Are you guaranteed a “blood sucker” or whatever the highest tier game spot that’s released by joining “Fang Club”?!

It’s been covered before during Rick and Morty. Bullet point #4 below will be particularly helpful

Quoted from DanQverymuch:

Were buyers from distributors even required to be Fang Club members? If so, how did that work?

Yes you have to be a fang club member to order thru a distributor during the fang club only window. They check.

Quoted from oneballjab:

How does it work with Spooky’s theme announcement. Do they announce the theme a couple of weeks before order banks open and drop a little video teaser?
I’m trying to figure out how much time I’ll have to contact a distributor and put my name down if it’s a dream theme.

For R&M I think whisper was around Dec 1st, trailer announcement was around Dec 6th and sales officially opened on Dec 16 or thereabouts.

Hard as in firm not as in difficult.

i.e. nothing can change your mind

Quoted from paulbaptiste:

Kaneda also stating that Spooky's new game will come in 3 tiers. There will be a Standard , LE and CE version of the game. I for one am totally fine with those options although it will further limit some availability I'm sure.

So something like:

CE = bloodsuckers ?
LE = all the non club member bling?
Standard = stock ?

Didn’t see option for ultraman collector edition before the crash. Now in spinning wheel hell

Finally got a ce in my cart around 10:15…no dice checking out.

Can we have a do over tomorrow?

#7779 2 years ago

It was up! Then error on checkout and back down again

Kinda funny, I don’t mind waiting 18 months for my game, but these 42 minutes have been adrenaline pumping stressful.

Quoted from Beechwood:

The answer is many distributors are sharing the 50/ 50 formula. Ordering direct is more likely going to get you an earlier number. Spooky even said as much
And I know they said they are doing a 2 to 1 ratio of HWN / UM, BUT isn't 1250/500 a 5 to 2 ratio. Assuming they are making them evenly between the two

Quoted from TheFamilyArcade:

This. It absolutely mattered, and therefore is arguably a reason not to buy from distros. Distros shouldn’t be happy about it either.

How stressed out were you during the ordering process? Cause let me tell you, ordering through a distributor for R&M was a heck of a lot less stressful for me than ordering direct for Ultraman.

If I could go back and do it again, I would’ve gladly traded places with you.

Quoted from GoldenBeard:

How does one purchase a machine at release from spooky or a distributor?
I was kind of poking around on their site. I’m assuming they have some type of limited release on their site. Halloween looks awesome but don’t want to pay $12k for collectors haha
However, I would totally pay $12k for Weird Al WAPP

In general, they open up a preorder window for Fang Club members and everything gets gobbled up quickly due to FOMO.

For this run, lots of preorder slots for resale, some for a discount. Easy transfer.

Quoted from mpdpvdpin:

RaM was limited to 750. They cannot make anymore or renew the license. That’s it.

And Charlie has said many times that if they ever did a 2.0, it would be an entirely new machine.

It isn’t going to be run again, no matter how many people try to will it into existence.

Quoted from ataritoday:

Never build more R&M, very clear…..but maybe R&M 2.0…..I wasn’t suggesting the same exact game…….. new code, new art, new playfield ? Does it need to be all 3 ? Was trying to thread be needle with suggestion above of pleasing current owners and getting some more out there….
Anyhow… can’t wait for TNA 2.0.
How about Buffy the vampire slayer ?

Think of it as more of a Data East vs Stern Jurassic Park as opposed to say Stern Star Wars vs. Stern Star Wars comic edition.

i.e. an entirely different machine.
