Spooky went out and got a theme like R&M, thinking outside the box and realm of "spooky"/horror themes. And they F'n killed it! Not a music pin, not original theme, not a nostalgic theme of yesteryear. R&M even made some pinheads go, "Hey, I've never seen this show, let me give it a try. If Spooky is making it into a pin, it's gotta be something special." And some did, and became fans. Thanks Spooky for being the catalyst to opening up the minds of some to give it a shot at watching a show that some may not have watched if not for a pinball machine.
Beat the rest of the manufacturers to the next untapped theme genre for a more current crowd of buyers: Avatar the Last Airbender, or Dragonball Z.
So. Much. Potential.
UGGGHHHHH, Halloween?
May as well be Rob Zombie Part 2. RIP to the thought of a spooky, FUN theme like Mystery Inc./Scooby Doo. R&M was in the right direction, this?....... meh!
I'm a Spooky pinball fan, have played all of their games to date (not the contracted Dominos or Jetsons though), own a R&M, and am a 2-year Fang Club member. I get the love for Spooky and the support of the company, I'm with you, but some of you Stan so hard for Spooky and have some Spooky blinders on. Let's be honest with ourselves and admit that the main, and initial wow factor of a pin, is the theme. The theme is what the draw is, and how well the theme is integrated.
I swear some of you would buy a Keeping Up with the Kardashians pin because Spooky made it. Talk about a real "horror" theme....
Quoted from onemilemore:Same. But also if they are set on 1,000 that won't be enough to satisfy demand, so I would be OK if it came down the road when production numbers can be ramped up.
I'd be lined up F5'ing on order day like I did with R&M, yesteryear San Diego Comic Con tix, Mondo/Bottleneck Gallery print releases, etc. When there is a will, there is a way!
“Keep Spooky Spooky” = R&M ?, very unspooky. Pigeon holing into ONE genre (horror) would not be the move. The right move would be campy, cult, non-traditional themes that are more off the beaten path.
