Sent back Spooky swag box, they resent it & said it gets mixed up but happens time to time....
Quoted from theadicts77:Not sure what you're talking about, RFM is an absolutely outstanding pin.
Meh. Finished it the first week I had it. Very repetitive game couldn't wait to get rid of. Low resale values pretty much reflect Pin2k accurately.
Quoted from docquest:Yeah right, I couldnt believe what they fit in my box. [quoted image]
Star Wars should have done the Blinders thing...Use the Force mode..
Quoted from Beechwood:Yes, dmd fits pinball as it feels more "analog". Just simple and to the point. It's the same reason pin2k didn't work. People don't want the video game experience in a pinball.
Give me colored dots and quick animations any day over clips.
yes, I agree with this, I do not think the pinball game needs to be improved, the 90s got it right where it needs to be... but it perhaps needs to be adjusted to the current technology a little...
hear me out here...
In the 90s, the game back box / head, was that size because it needed to accommodate all the computers that controlled the electronics. The size ended up working great to accommodate speakers and finally a DMD in 1992....
Fast forward 31 years and the screen got bigger and all the computers in the game were reduced in size, nonetheless, the size of the back box remained the same...
replacing the alphanumeric screens for DMD in 92 was a no brainer, but replacing the DMD for an LCD to me is overkill.
I think modern games should use a DMD for gameplay and maintain a SEPARATE LCD that could easily replace the translite and that being used for other animations unrelated to the gameplay or that could be related to the gameplay without overwhelming the player.
I find moderns LCD have unnecessary information on the LCD and in most cases ends up being filled with crap the player does not need nor care or rarely sees because we are looking down at the PF.
Also, because the LCD adds another layer of complexity to the game, most games do not have (Sterns) do not have the budget to accommodate appropriate animations that are nice to watch unless these are premium games (Elvira, Batman, etc). A good example of how the LCD is wasted is AIQ, the animations and callouts are boring and I just did not care for any of them.
I think DMD needs to come back, be integral to the game and a translite could be replaced by an animated Translite on a loop being played on a LCD.
Quoted from Indusguys:I like watching the larger LCD when friends/family are playing my modern games.
Agree, but when playing I’d rather have a strong callout and not look at an lcd or dmd.
Quoted from Indusguys:I like watching the larger LCD when friends/family are playing my modern games.
agreed, this is the only time I find the LCD is an asset.
I still enjoy the practicality of the DMD.
The way I 'feel' about is the same way Television is leaning towards practical approach rather than virtualizing everything with a green screen. A good example is Mandalorian, which brought the world of Star Wars back by bringing all the practical effects used back in the 70s with a good mix of modern technology and almost no green screen (not sure if it wasn't used at all).
I think the LCD adds another layer to the game that should not be replacing the DMD. I appreciate a well done DMD animation more than I do LCD gimmicks...
just my opinion.

Uhh… You should see how they filmed that show. It’s all virtual sets
Quoted from kciaccio:Star Wars should have done the Blinders thing...Use the Force mode..
Star Wars (the good one) had the blinder effect, to use the skill shot. On the dot display. Well used imho.
On extra ball launches, the cockpit of your x-wing is blanked and you have to shoot by the audio only, without being able to see the target activity. "Use the force Luke!".
The only other Star Wars that comes close for me is the Trilogy Sega attempt.
I joined the Spooky club to have a chance to order and I'm going to be disappointed if its not a horror theme pin.. WISH they say the genre before people join the club.. taking my chances here like the lottery. I sure didn't pay 45 dollars for hand sanitizer.. I'm more cool just to donate to their cause. As a huge horror film guy with many horror related items from Art/posters/NECCA toys to Prime 1/Sideshow statues.. Every Horror movie franchise Lisc out there is obtainable Most of the actors you can meet in real life for a small fee.. at many horror conventions. The best thing about Horror is much like pinball its small enough to not get lost in all the people. I have met even the biggest names Robert and Bruce..to name a few and I'm a nobody.. so their time is buyable and do-able for call outs... so lets hope Spooky now has enough clout to pull off a much needed REAL Horror game in the pinball community. Not meant for kids... or people that are into boy bands and unicorns.
Quoted from TreyBo69:Uhh… You should see how they filmed that show. It’s all virtual sets
that is my point, the practical elements are there. New technolgy and no green screen... it is not about how it was filmed, it is more about how it was not.
Quoted from Pin_Fandango:that is my point, but the practical elements are there.
Quoted from fnord:[quoted image]
yeah that did not make sense.
The point was that it is not filmed on a green screen because the green screen even though it was hot and the new thing back in the early 2000's, you fast forward 20 years and it is not anymore...
The point being, LCD = green screen
there is a practical element added to being into a virtual set like the mandalorian, The actors can see and feel like being in their surrondings. This adds a practical element to the concept that is taken away with Green screen, the actor cannot see anything.
Not only this, but the virtual set of the mandalorian also because it is a actual practical set (on a screen) it reflects proper colors and light temperature that simply does not exist when using green screen (and actors end up with a green cast over them that needs to be removed in post prod).
Open your mind pinside, learn to read in between the lines.
Let's go back to our regular Spooky convo please. lol

Hey now, next pandemic it could double in price!
Quoted from TreyBo69:Uhh… You should see how they filmed that show. It’s all virtual sets
yea it's pretty impressive.. its good to see they are still innovating
Quoted from jellikit:It seems only logical, go back 60+ years like TZ and you have...

Ooh this could be very cool.
I was thinking maybe Outer Limits but this would be a better fit.
Quoted from benheck:Bela Lugosi? Isn't he dead?
About as dead as my “LE” series 1 Monster in my pocket !
I certainly hope that the Adult Swim relationship is just getting started. I've said it before on one of these groundhog days but there's so much good content there that is right up Spooky's alley.
Hell there's probably enough demand to have a dedicated line for AS pins if they could work it out.
Quoted from mrclean:About as dead as my “LE” series 1 Monster in my pocket !

Monster in my pocket, that takes me back.
I loved them as a kid had loads of them.
Garbage Pail Kids Pin anyone?
Quoted from oneballjab:Ooh this could be very cool.

Outer Limits would be fun, while going old school, The Prisoner could be fun as well. I am sure everyone here enjoys us going back in time with TV series.

90’s Outer Limits was awesome, but limited popularity. Of course, Spooky only needs a theme to have enough popularity to sell 500-1,000 games…
One pin that I would but in a heartbeat would be an Interview with the Vampire (Ann Rice) theme. The 90’s movie with Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise was great, but the entire Lestat book series is great. Like so many other things though, not enough fans.
Now let's get serious, the next film is to be released in August.

They just need to make sure whatever machine is released that someone can make a topper, if they haven't already.
Quoted from Zablon:[quoted image]
I loved this movie as a kid... wondering if you can use drill head puppet aka Tunneler to your advantage. Especially if his drill bit head is 1 1/8” perfect for pinball button flipper hole size!

I loved outer limits, but I sorta like "tales from the darkside" even better
Is that a Bauhaus reference? I’m impressed!

Wasn’t it in Ed Wood the Tim Burton movie as well?

Would SO buy a Pee Wee's Big Adventure pin.

The beginning of the end.

“It's not illegal. It's frowned upon, like masturbating on an airplane.” - Alan
“I'm pretty sure that's illegal too - Phil
“Yeah, maybe after 9/11, where everybody got so sensitive. Thanks a lot, bin Laden.” - Alan
Absolutely perfect ridiculousness
Quoted from benheck:"So whadda want your Aqua Kids poster to look like?"
"Every Meatloaf album combined"
"You got it!"
A Taco Bell pin would be fun and look good next to their Dominos pin
How many ways can you combo the same seven ingredients into different meals? Fourth meal multiball. Live mas extra ball. A swinging bell toy like ACDC. Game writes itself. (Although I have no idea what you do with the display)

There's a reason why there is no Taco Bell pin... it is the same reason there is no playground at Taco Bell.
It's hard to have fun when you might shit your pants...
