I am sorry to all the Scooby lovers out there, but what the heck? It's not that great at all. I watched scooby doo when I was a kid because we had three channels and nothing else was on. It's ok... but nothing more. As a pin? Oh no. No.
It’s been a revered piece of American animation since 1969. We’re all very sorry that your inner child died but Scooby Do absolutely has the makings of a terrific pin. The appeal stretches from young children to the elderly basically. It’s PERFECT for Spooky, It would sell out immediately and I’d be pumped to own one or put one on location.

I think it’s such a great theme
1) it’s recognizable and nostalgic - countless people watched this show as a kid, and now many with their kids
2) it lends itself to a game very easily - keep the team together or split them up to look for clues and solve a multi-staged mystery story (think of how good Whodunnit could be with a modern controller)
3) the art style is clean with memorable designs and could allow for many unique old-man-in-a-mask options
4) they still make the show and there is a ton of existing assets to pull from, and could get unique call outs from the modern actors that do great impersonations
5) it’s a light hearted and campy theme that could allow for a lot of humor with some occasional spooky elements. Sure Scooby Doo isn’t scary, but a pinball machine based on an actual horror property isn’t going to be scary after a few plays anyway

Please, please, please - 3 channel pin. Wizard mode - select channel 3 or 4 for your pong, odyssey 2000, Atari 2600 or intellivision, Betamax or vhs.

The quality of the show is irrelevant. It's nostalgia, a warm blanket that reminds you of being 8 years old without a care in the world. The show is merely a link to that long lost time.
Big Trouble and Goonies are kind of shit movies too. Doesn't mean the pins wouldn't sell.

Maybe not a great theme idea, but rules wise you could do whatever as you fill the programming block with content while trying to save the TV station.

It’s the same reason we all have game rooms. We’re trying to recreate childhood memories.
Those were some of my favorite moments in life when I was a kid.

People would be lining up to play or buy a scooby doo pin. Tons of great art, callouts, and scenario material (with guest stars!) to choose from.

That or trying to feel like 22. People who don’t make that extra room a game room make it a home bar instead. (The smarties do both!)

BTTF - absolutely
Nightmare on Elm Street has good potential, but Gottlieb just threw it away. SUCH a boring pin.
Nintendo seems ripe for any number of great pins or a Nintendo World pin incorporating a number of properties. But this is true of a lot of video game properties, not just Nintendo. Licensing must be hard for them. It's really the only explanation I can come up with for why we don't have more.
Led Zeppelin...what a waste of that IP.
The Beatles really deserve a proper pin, but it will probably never happen now.

I hate to agree with you, but I do.
My interest in pinball is only 12 years old, and the first thing I noticed is how all the pinball games seemed to be designed for children. Very childish (and unfunny) callouts, plinkity plonk music - no gore, no nudity, no naughty words....I was quick to change that with my own creations.
What the pinball world needs, is more pinball games made for ADULTS!

The history of pinball at least in the prime late 80's/90's era explains that well, however since then, there is resistance to change to the fact that there are more people buying for their own home use.
The problem is, even with this fact, you get all these people with wives and children that presents a problem as well. It's not like a porn mag they can hide in their closet...or in your case, virtual tables that aren't sitting open in the house for everyone to see constantly. We saw it with R&M plainly. So many people asking for all these censoring options because 'kids', or simply didn't want it based on the language presented because 'kids'. Since they try to market to as many people as they can, it does limit what can be marketed...or you end up either catering to people who have to have it their way, or risk alienating customers. It's something every producer of 'entertainment' products has to consider.
R&M may very well be the dirtiest pinball machine we ever get. (Sure I know there was some nudity on a few old games, but...it's cartoony). Also, this is the US...we are fine with violence, but sex is taboo. And apparently if you appreciate the female form you are a creep....so lots of differing opinions. Most likely it would take another country with less puritan backgrounds to do things a bit more risque.

That’s your opinion. Monsters inc are not ghost so you are wrong in your comparison. Scooby is still around since 1969 and those who think it would be lame or not sell well are completely wrong.
Just my opinion, but kids now a days don’t really watch cartoons like Scooby, He-man, Bob’s Burgers. They are geared mainly to adults. Just look at Saturday morning tv shows now, hardly any cartoons anymore like it was back in the 70’s and 80’s when all three networks all aired cartoons on Saturday mornings.

So you need gore and nudity for a pinball? Ok keep going with that. Feel sad for you.
Quoted from BallyKISS1978:So you need gore and nudity for a pinball? Ok keep going with that. Feel sad for you.
Should we consider any 40+ year olds who want a childs cartoon as a theme for a pinball machine a pedo? He voiced his opinion and you try to shame him. Not cool. Besides, having played many of his tables, he's not really referring to nudity so much as the cursing and some gore. It's more about the overall themes and what is included in the games. Can you imagine what R&M would be cleansed to your childhood standards?
If it's Blues Brothers I'm gonna be in a dilemma. I put all my chitz into a Mermaid Edition... and something would also have to go ...

Lots of themes like this I'm surprised were never made pins, but I suppose licensing has always been an issue on a ton of properties. Then again, when this was at its heyday, they weren't doing too many licensed themes.
