“I know what to do way more than you do Chuck. I’ll take this puny operation of yours to the big time, just need the keys.”
I can’t even imagine how direct or foolish any conversation was phrased if this was during the Blowhard Bobby days. Pinball is easy...

Oh I bet it was exactly like that. “You’ve got this silly factory & know how to cobble machines together....but I’ve got Jpop!! YOU need ME!”
“Why sell 750 machines...when with the power of Jpop, you can sell 130!!!!”
Quoted from Mudflaps:Halloween III on vinyl FTW![quoted image]
Damn, tried to get that and missed out
Quoted from rotordave:Nobody who wanted R&M on the day missed out that I’m aware of.
Even old mate Odin who slept in for hours because he was majorly hungover snagged one in the end.
It’s not like they were all sold out before they hit the market.
If people didn’t buy one on the day, well, that’s really their own fault, sorry to say.

I own RZ and had TNA for a while. Love spookey games. However, I think it's crappy that I had to make a decision in only a few hours without even a gameplay stream. Then when I saw people selling their spot in line that just made me sick. Must say I'm not really feeling the illusion of scarcity business model.

Is it really an illusion if they're only able to build X amount in Y time frame?
It's not like Stern LE's where they could make thousands of them if they wanted.

I see what your saying about how Stern has the ability and that Spookey is a smaller shop. Couldn't they have adjusted their production run after seeing what a hit R&M was? IDK.

Spooky has sold and shipped around 2500 games since then. Which company is actually worth zero dollars now?

Well i think the original 750 buyers would he pissed or something if they pumped out more. Best to not announce a limit. They left a ton of cash on the table.
Totally, The license was for 750 games, they couldn’t produce more without a new contract. Buyers would have been pissed had Charlie done that. Plus I think Spooky wanted to make a splash with a cool new theme, finish production in a year and move onto the next big thing. I think over time we’ll see larger production numbers as the company expands.

Ah gotcha, i didn't know the entire backstory. Makes sense, the success probably caught Spooky by surprise(Irony!) I bet they dont do that again. R&M is a blast!!
Spooky picks production #'s based on what they expect they can make within a reasonable window of time.
Quoted from digitaldocc:I see what your saying about how Stern has the ability and that Spookey is a smaller shop. Couldn't they have adjusted their production run after seeing what a hit R&M was? IDK.
Maybe, but then you're pushing back the next game and the team working on that probably wouldn't be thrilled. Heck Ben's game at CGC is partly due to him getting squeezed out of the production schedule.
Quoted from benheck:Spooky picks production #'s based on what they expect they can make within a reasonable window of time.
Yes but in a collaboration aren't they additionally teaming up with you and Chicago Gaming for production purposes ? Isn't that why CGC has been silent to release another remake ? When they launch it wouldn't surprise me if they have many of them ready to be delivered. I also know Spooky is in the middle of another move.. wondering are we going to need to wait for them to get settled into their new facility or is this thing going to be in our hands relatively quick after reveal ?
I could be wrong.... but I think Spooky is simply building a expansion to the current building next door. Not another full move out/in.
Yes??
Quoted from desertT1:Zombieland could be a great pin, and not even because of the zombie genre. As funny as this statement seems because of the title of the movie, but they aren’t even all that important. It’s funny, and the characters develop as the story goes. They kill Bill freaking Murray after he survives a mass zombie infection.
Do all the doom and gloom stuff, but pick up on the humor and character relationships. You know, everything Stranger Things whiffed at.
Also, really enjoy your level of participation in this thread Ben. Miss your podcast...
I posted the Zombieland trailer a couple of pages back, and I agree - the sarcastic and witty comments/humor is what made the movie. Definitely not the same as a TWD pin. Killing zombies along the way was just a bonus. The amusement park scenes could lend themselves for some toys, but likely treading into RAZA territory and Spooky might not want to go there. The Van Halen music would fit well.
"You guys want some Purell?"

The car door scene nailing a zombie would be a neat toy in a pin.

Where / When did he say that?
Quoted from riggy469:Kaneda says Halloween. Yessssssssssssssssss.
UGGGHHHHH, Halloween?
May as well be Rob Zombie Part 2. RIP to the thought of a spooky, FUN theme like Mystery Inc./Scooby Doo. R&M was in the right direction, this?....... meh!
Quoted from riggy469:Kaneda says Halloween. Yessssssssssssssssss.
Really? No way anybody could have figured that out.
Quoted from Pinballer31520:Hope the original Halloween !
He played what sounded like the trailer for the original movie?
As much as I love the original Halloween movie and some of the follow on films... seems a little lacking in callouts and stuff. So much of the film is visual and suspenseful.... doesn't seem like it would translate to pinball that well. Except for the soundtrack, that'd be great, of course.
Quoted from Pinballer31520:Hope the original Halloween !
The sound bite he used in the podcast was pulled form the 2018 Halloween movie trailer. That movie was more of a direct sequel to the original 1978 film. That doesnt necessarily indicate what version the game would be based on though. Spooky does have a relationship with Rob Zombie who directed the Halloween remake so I guess it's possible it could based on that version as well.
If it really is based on the original Halloween, I wonder if they would go after Jamie Lee Curtis or PJ Soles for callouts. Unfortunately Donald Pleasance isnt alive. Custom voice work by him would've sounded great.
I hope he’s wrong, I’ve never been a fan. Seems like a slow drag for a pinball theme. If it were HIII I’d be down but man... Evil Dead, Friday 13th, Scooby Doo so much more meat on the bone with those franchises
Quoted from riggy469:Kaneda says Halloween. Yessssssssssssssssss.
If it is Halloween, I love the choice. Want to know why? Because it’s Spooky staying true to itself and walking the beat of their own drum. Kudos to them if Halloween really is their next pin.

This... and keep in mind, even if the theme SOUNDS like it would not work in pinball, give Spooky a chance and see what they do with it! They have made some great games and have some very talented people on staff that can come up with some stuff you may not think of. While I would not be in on a Halloween pin personally, I would love to see what they do with it if in fact that is the next game.
If it is not Evil Dead / Army of Darkness, it saves me from some very hard decisions right now.

Can’t agree more. Let’s take a chance or two, keep an open mind and avoid different versions of the same pins being released over and over. Someone needs to take a chance and I’m glad its Spooky.

It was from the trailer of the 2018 Halloween film.

Custom voice work by him would've sounded great. I don’t know if it would be appropriate but I’d love her to do a bunch of custom lines not in the movie. Anyways it should be lots of fun. Should be pretty easy for Spooky to make a lit Jason mask for the topper.
Halloween has the BEST theme song of any horror movie. Easily recognizable by most people. And it has the best scream by Jamie Lee. So yes they should get her to do custom callouts.

Halloween Kills (sequel to 2018 Halloween) is going to be released Oct 15, 2021. So the Halloween film franchise will be high on the pop culture radar quite a bit this fall.
Probably won't make much difference for Spooky though since I would expect all the games to be pre-sold long before the fall.
I love the movies, but I'm in the camp that it seems lacking since it has a silent antagonist and the doc is dead. A Freddy game sounds better (done right). Not a must have for me, so if true, it gives me some time.
Didn’t Kaneda also say it was Scooby Doo? Also, would he really betray Charlie/Spooky and make the announcement...when it should be Spooky’s thunder?
Quoted from dnapac:Didn’t Kaneda also say it was Scooby Doo? Also, would he really betray Charlie/Spooky and make the announcement...when it should be Spooky’s thunder?
Exactly, I think he says things to get ratings he’s gotta get people to tune in some how. Also he might have some well placed sources but I think some of them treat him like a bit of a mushroom, they feed him crap and keep him in the dark. I’m not dissing him I like his show and the way he tells it like it is I’m just saying don’t believe everything he feeds us.
I was hoping for something more Horror/Comedy over straight up Horror but Halloween could be great and I’m sure they’ll smash it, not sure if I’ll be going in on it though. More likely I’ll save my money and wait for Spooky to do Beetlejuice, Evil Dead or something of that Ilk.
Nevertheless if it is then good luck Spooky and all the best hope you sell out day 1 again.
Not a crazy Halloween fan, but it could be cool especially with the theme song. Really hoping it turns out to be Evil Dead.
We shall see. Halloween would be pretty low on wanted list for themes, but I've owned Johnny Mnemonic, Congo, Total Nuclear Annihilation in the past, so I certainly could be convinced. Assuming that's the them it would come down to artwork and gameplay.
I'm a Spooky pinball fan, have played all of their games to date (not the contracted Dominos or Jetsons though), own a R&M, and am a 2-year Fang Club member. I get the love for Spooky and the support of the company, I'm with you, but some of you Stan so hard for Spooky and have some Spooky blinders on. Let's be honest with ourselves and admit that the main, and initial wow factor of a pin, is the theme. The theme is what the draw is, and how well the theme is integrated.
I swear some of you would buy a Keeping Up with the Kardashians pin because Spooky made it. Talk about a real "horror" theme....

So this is kinda my going theory on why I think/hope it could be Scooby Doo:
-Kaneda finds out it is SD and hints very closely at it on his show
-Spooky gets spooked (ba-dum-tsh) and feeds him some other theme info to throw him off the scent
-Conversation changed
So, it's still maybe Scooby Doo. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
