Quoted from LOTR_breath:

If I had to assign numbers to it. I would say maybe 40-50% of the pinball market had no idea what R&M was. Ultraman, more like 98%.

Until the pin came out the wife and I had know idea who R&M were...color me stupid
Both of us know who Ultraman is, and were slightly torn on the decision today...

Quoted from Vans:

So most people going for Halloween ?

...that being said, Halloween it is!!

#7052 2 years ago

Doubt I’m buying either. Neither theme does anything for me.

#7053 2 years ago

Lean Halloween though.

#7054 2 years ago

I hope we get some type of art on this Bridge. Be nice if they add some type of art on the plastic in the top and front. Seems like a missed opportunity. It's a bit of a eyesore bare.

Absolutely needs something.

#7056 2 years ago

I am probably in for a standard but I really hope we can but the art blades. They are a must with Michael popping out of the shrubs.

#7057 2 years ago

They added some stand up targets in there so people can stop complaining about hitting posts when they miss their shots.

Both games look great. Good mod opportunity on the Ultraman to change a couple of baltan out for different monster sculpts

#7058 2 years ago

What’s the over-under on how fast these will sell out?

#7059 2 years ago

They are going to sell out quick. 1/2 of those who buy will try to sell for a profit.

#7061 2 years ago

Cant stop watching the Halloween trailer, keep watching it over and over.. awesome music, Im so excited.

#7062 2 years ago

Dumb question alert as I have never bought a Spooky pin, but is it possible to buy one from a local distributer (to get support and such) or is the only way to buy via their website?

#7063 2 years ago

I think it’s more accurate to say that 10-15% of the total number of games will be turned over quickly with the intention of making a profit. I don’t think flippers will have as much luck with this title as they did on RAM at peak frenzy for a few reasons. Mainly theme popularity, lack of evidence of fervent code development* and larger production numbers and the fact that the CE’s are not limited within the 1250 total games. I expect the standard to be the most rare of the bunch but the least sought after. I bet at least 500 Halloweens will be CE because everyone wants that topper. *The price of a RaM spot skyrocketed after epthegeek started live posting all of his code work on the buyers thread but I don’t see that happening with Halloween.

Thanks! Looks like none of them are local I got used to my local distributer dude who I could buzz to come and fix stuff, maybe I need to pester him to become Spooky authorized as well.

#7067 2 years ago

I am all in on Ultraman, CE but think it will sell out fast. I know some Robot collectors already drooling once I mentioned it to my voltron, mech collecting buds. Perfect demographic . Hope we see a sell out as thar would be huge !

#7068 2 years ago

You don’t really need a local distributor. KingPin is great and Spooky has THEE BEST customer service in the industry.

I love this whole reveal and love spooky.
also--- I am going to be very tempted to replace Michael M with a Homer mod in those bushes. Just to be a dork.

#7070 2 years ago

Maybe this has been asked already but will you be able to load Halloween code on an Ultraman and vice versa?

Well, if it bricks the game…it’s on you.

+1 Yeah same. I'll keep playing R+M and go back to waiting for the next release.

Not going to try it unless they intended for the ability to do it, may not be even possible but I thought I would ask.

I'm actually in California a lot. Though my travel schedule may be changing quite a bit soon.

Damn you Spooky! I honestly can not decide between the 2 games.

Can I just put a vote up for I don’t like this model of selling just because I can’t justify buying both today.

#7081 2 years ago

This is a moot point but has anyone identified where the teaser art came from on either of these? I can't spot it.

#7082 2 years ago

So who is doing the code on this? What I’ve gathered so far seems quite simplistic

#7083 2 years ago
Quoted from Yoreland:

It’s on the side cabinet of the Ultraman game

Who’s designing the next Spooky pin? Charlie or Scott?

I 'think' the next one is Ben's + CGC collab? I'm sure they'll correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah, my thinking is that is where Michael finally meets his demise. Can't make out any mechs but am suspicious... The player facing rubber rings look permanent.. I wonder if the plank gets bonked from underneath a la R&M and sends Michael over the edge? If so I can see that becoming one of the coolest moments in pinball.

probably better to wait for someone else to jump off that bridge first.

Why did Spooky pick Ultraman thou? I believe it to be somewhat better known in Canada, probably even more so on the Quebec side. But in the US?

Thanks LTG . Your job is to help pinball collectors. As good as you are at your job normally, you're not helping with that comment.

It’s more of a personal thing for Charlie & family.
Making a theme that’s near and dear to their hearts.
I think it’s pretty cool what they are doing.

#7094 2 years ago

Quick question. Has it been determined who designed both games?

#7095 2 years ago

I’m in for a Halloween CE but I think you guys are underestimating the amount of people that at least recognize Ultraman -the series has been around for 55 years.

There are also a LOT of people in this hobby that also enjoy all things Japan - tokusatsu, anime, manga, etc.

#7096 2 years ago
Quoted from calprog:

They said it was a colab mainly between 3 of them with the whole team helping.
Originally began as a John Wick game before they got the HWN license.

#7097 2 years ago

The only question I have is “will there be two club threads or can Pinside manage to keep it simple with one?”

The games look cool, great job Spooky. Now get back to creating more Rick and Morty code .

#7098 2 years ago

Weren't we promised gameplay videos before Wednesday? (the trailers are not gameplay videos)

#7099 2 years ago

It was a team effort. The designer is listed as ‘Koris Barloff’ or something but Charlie, Bug and a few others had their hands in it.

Quoted from calprog:

I’m a bit worried about depth of rules / code myself. As it stands now I’m not sure I’m into it. Seems like you could get to the final wiz mode pretty quick if your a good player. From what I gather the rules were written by Bug w/ Bowen as consultant and epthegeek coding*? Will personally wait to see if he goes wild with updates like he did on RAM but for some reason I don’t see that happening for this game mostly based on the fact that there’s not really a whole lot going on in the film itself.

* Fawzma is coding Halloween / UM

Both are cool. Ultraman has way more assets and better art. It will sell out fast.

I think Halloween may take a bit.
