Ok so after getting the Blu-ray and trying to watch it again, what I did to make it easier to watch is, after every single line a female says to a male, just add “... with your dumb penis!” to the end of it. It’s brilliantly satisfying and makes you understand what Kathleen Kennedy was trying to go for.

    #1632 6 years ago

This is probably one of the best reviews I’ve heard.
Compliments what is right. Great explanation of what is wrong. And hilarious.

Yeah and I thought a whole lot more Bothans would be dying to bring that information, not some abandoned girl and her...
    wait...
I see a SW pattern here.

Bothans stole the plans to the DS2

    Quoted from Geocab:

No. Obi-wan told Luke Vader killed his father Anakin, which was the truth "from a certain point of view".
And you're right, we can't take anything at face value because they're making up the "trilogy" as they go. No outline, no plan.
Even with no plan, a talented writer could make his story work with what was given to them in the previous installment. Rian couldn't do that so we got a mess.

I agree with this, TFA wasn't the best SW movie but JJ set up a ton for the next guy (Rian) and we didn't get any pay off.
Huge mystery of Snoke = Johnson shit on it
Huge mystery of where the lightsaber came from, force flash backs, Obiwan talking specifically to Rey = Johnson shit on it
Huge mystery to who Rey is = Johnson shit on it
Huge mystery as to how Rey knows the force and is so strong with it = Johnson shit on it, shes strong with the force just because, don't question it, shes entitled to it and shouldn't have to justify anything because any one can be anything they want (incomes the "when you wish upon a star" music)
Knights of Ren = Johnson didn't even address them
Han Solo died YESTERDAY = Johnson says get over it already, no one cares anymore
Colin Trevorrow had plans to have Luke die in episode 9 = Johnson didn't like that so he shit on it by writing Luke off in 8 to make room for boring characters and cried to Kathleen about it, so she fired Trevorrow for calling out Johnson for not knowing how to write a movie
No where in any cannon does Leia know how to use the force = Johnson shit on it and made her turn into Mary Poppins force using Super Woman in Space
The list can go on and on and on and Im not even describing how political agendas drove plot points

    #1705 6 years ago
    Quoted from TheLaw:

After Rogue 1 I'm not surprised if all the footage is left out of the movie.

I wouldn't be surprised if Han Solo isn't even in this movie because of how the trailers are now.

Solo: A Star Wars movie about people who know Han Solo

    Quoted from HoakyPoaky:

    SHOCKER: The robot is female!
    SHOCKER: She’s a one-of-a-kind individual! She’s got attitude & she knows it!
SHOCKER: She’s self-modified! She depends on no one! She can do anything!
SHOCKER: She’s free! She has no owner! She is not a piece of property!

Women are badass enough as they are. They don’t need some shit like this to prove they are badass.
If I was a chick I’d be insulted at the fact that writers feel the need to do this subliminal shit to put women in the spot light.

Such as Poe being surprised that haldo was a woman. REALLY?!!! He takes orders from Leia herself and he is SURPRISED that haldo could possibly be a woman to the point of verbally saying something to his peers. Or this undertone where if you watch Rey do something and question her, you’re automatically labeled a sexist pig because you can’t believe she’s strong with the force just because.

This movie should be called Social Justice Wars: The Last Snowflake
And Solo looks like it’s falling right inline with the agenda.

Ok flame suit on for the SJWs in the crowd. I’m not a misogynist in anyway but if you watch this and don’t agree that it makes the movie go from a 2 to 7.5 you’re Kathleen Kennedy.

Watch the whole thing before you start bitching if you plan on crying about this. But the fact that there is so much agenda shoved down your throat in this movie that this opportunity even presented itself says something.

    Leia’s death scene done right.
    No porgs!
    No stupid humor!
    Practically no Rose!
    Casino scene gone!
    What a great movie!!!

Mike Zeroh on YouTube is awesome to watch if you’re into spoilers or news. He gets a lot of things out there from a bunch of sources he has. I love watching him although a lot of parts in R1 and TLJ were definitely spoiled for me because of the info he gets.

It’s always so hard to tell if these script leaks are legit this early in the game BUT this actually excites me a bit. And would totally undo what Rian did to Luke. Thoughts?

    Any news worth chatting about?

Disney wont release the title until they are done with filming, speculations that 1. they are trying to pull a Marvel move like they did with Avengers: End Game, or 2. They aren't happy with the way IX is going and are scrambling.

    #2886 5 years ago
    Quoted from HoakyPoaky:

Has nothing to do with any of that. They're just waiting for the big title/trailer reveal

Isnt that exactly what Marvel did though, not release the title until the trailer? This would be the first Star Wars movie they ever did that with. Not that I care or anything matters, the new movie will sadly still probably suck. Its just interesting that they aren't releasing the name.

    #2895 5 years ago
    Quoted from HoakyPoaky:

That's not as unlikely as you might think. In fact I'd be shocked if they don't put Liam Neeson or Ewan McGregor in a top secret force ghost cameo scene for Episode 9. Fan service to the extreme for this one.
The title should actually be Episode 9: The Kitchen Sink, because they have absolutely nothing to lose at this point.

Ewan McGregor has been confirmed for a voice role just like with the Force Awakens, also doing face scans of him to mix with Alec Guiness's face so itll probably be in another force flashback sequence

    Quoted from HoakyPoaky:

In other related BIG news that quietly slipped under the radar.....
Look what happen to Kiri Hart, the female head of the entire Star Wars Story Group & Senior Vice President of Development (aka Kathleen Kennedy's right hand). She was a producer & expected by some to succeed Kennedy at some point. She was highly promoted by Lucasfilm from the moment she was hired (see article link below). She's been there since day one when Disney took control of Lucasfilm in 2012. The whole "The Force is Female" campaign was her idea. It was her idea to make the story group entirely female. It's widely accepted that she was one of the main driving forces in destroying the franchise. And now she's gonzo. No press release. No explanation. They wiped her all mentions of her on their websites, which fans finally noticed last week. Lucasfilm were then forced to admit she is no longer working at Lucasfilm. The "consultant" tag is just a cover to avoid admitting she was fired.
This is wonderful news for fans, and clearly shows that major changes are coming to Lucasfilm after the Episode 9 release. She has no credits for the Mandalorian or Rogue One TV series, which leaves many to believe she was fired last year.
    Good riddance!
    https://www.nytimes.com/2017/12/22/movies/star-wars-last-jedi-women-run-universe.html
    http://www.jedinews.co.uk/film-music-tv/articles/kiri-hart-leaves-lucasfilm-story-group-now-a-consultant-for-lucasfilm/

There are few good videos out there about this subject... not Kiri specifically but its the realization of "get woke - go broke" and how people are sick of having SJW movements crammed down their throat in every single aspect of entertainment from sports shows to sci-fi movies, and its backfiring for companies as such Disney and they're cutting the fat so to say

    #2915 5 years ago
    Quoted from Rdoyle1978:

Help me understand this mentality. The Last Jedi and Solo -sucked-! ... but it wasn’t because there happen to be a few female characters in it. ALL of the characters were horrible, because that movie pissed all over every other Star Wars theme, history and character.

Yes you are right. The social justice thing is more than female presence, its when you sacrifice the plot or good of the story just to push the agenda.... heres an example like when 300 people in the rebellion died and Rose thought the trip to Cantobite was a waste, but then she released the space camel horse thing from its harness and now all of a sudden "it was all worth it!"
That is a very light example.

Other dumb subtle examples are like when Poe saw Haldo for the first time and they direct him to be BLOWN AWAY its a woman....
Really?! You report to Leia, why would anyone that does something impressive be such a shocker that its a woman? So its just little things like that mixed with other major things and ignoring plots and story arcs just to obviously or subliminally push agendas.

    #2916 5 years ago

another example is Rey, OK she is awesome, and mysterious and is extremely powerful with the force. But if I question why, the response is
"Oh youre questioning her because shes FEMALE, you pig. you sexiest pig, what she cant be awesome AND a girl, you misogynist pig!!!!"

No.... I would just like someone to explain to me why she is amazing and how she only knowing the force for the span of 4 days can beat Luke Skywalker in a physical confrontation. To say shes awesome just because shes a girl and no explanation is needed, is a slap in the face to women. And IF that's the route it goes without explanation then Disney will have completely RUINED star wars to push an agenda

So I feel like everyone in this forum is going to see the next movie, whether its in the theater or at home, we are all going to watch it and more than likely be really disappointed, slight chance of being happy about it. At this point what are some things you want to see happen due to the fact that this movie is supposed to put a close to the skywalker era and movies?

Myself im really hoping that snoke actually is plagueis
-force ghost Anakin is used with hayden Christensen so the end of ROTJ makes sense with the young force ghost
-Luke didn't really die in TLJ, and somehow all we were seeing was some force projection the whole time (just a giant middle finger to Rian Johnson)
-Rey's character actually has some relevance to the skywalkers or plagueis, and why there was so much subliminal emphasis on her staff, being that plagueis used a staff as his weapon, or why Rey's fighting style is exactly like Palpatine's, or why Han looked at her so strangely on the falcon
-We learn how Maz got the light saber and hopefully ends up being a really good story
-Whats with Jakku being the center of the universe, what is stored there, did palpatine hide something, just some kind of answer.
-Rose dies in the opening scene
-Some explanation of the forceback visions and why obiwan calls out to Rey

I know im not catching all of it but what are some other things that could be done to make this final movie not be a complete shit show and only like half a shit show?

    #2978 5 years ago
    Quoted from racer_x:

Don't count on it. I haven't bothered watching TLJ again or Solo at all, despite them staring me in the eye every time I log into Netflix.
I'm pretty sure I'll be content to read a synopsis on IX.

Anything you hope to read about that happens?

    #2981 5 years ago
    Quoted from fosaisu:

I don’t care one way or the other about this - references back to true prequels are a complete waste of time IMO. But if they want a 30-second throw away line to keep other fans happy, whatever.

Oh God no, Lucas’ retro edits to the OT were an abomination, and whatever the new trioligy needs it’s not Hayden Christianson. Or Jar Jar or midichlorians for that matter. If they’re going to go back to 1999, they might as well go all-in and have Smashmouth do the score.

I think this could be a good twist if they decide to have fun with it. Or alternately, make Luke an interventionist force ghost - since Yoda can call down lightning and start fires, why not have Luke fucking shit up after death?
In general, I hope the point of Ep IX is to make an enjoyable film, and not just run around filing perceived continuity holes.

Is there something youd actually like to see though?

    #2985 5 years ago

I appreciate everyone dissecting what I listed as things I think would make me happy if I saw in the movie, but I think the point of my post is being missed.
I was just looking to see what you guys want to see.
You're all very vocal on the issues of the last movie and bring up really good points in your complaints about how things are wrong and what not, so I was trying to see what would be considered a "save" if you will. If there is NO WAY IN HELL this last movie even has a chance, then whats the point of even posting star wars related comments in this thread anymore? Theres gotta be some glimpse of hope left, right? anything?

    #3022 5 years ago
    Quoted from fosaisu:

Finally broke down and watched Avengers Infinity War and Solo on Netflix last night (let's just say there was a lot of laundry to fold).
I was pleasantly surprised by Avengers. There was a fair amount of obligatory face time for the cast of thousands they needed to squeeze in, but they generally made smart choices about focusing in on a subset of the teams, and the Guardians provided enough legitimate humor to keep it from ever feeling like a slog the way Age of Ultron did. It moved along nicely for a 2.5 hour film, and I'm looking forward to the sequel, may even see it in the theaters.
Solo on the other hand was underwhelming. Alden Ehrenreich may be a decent actor but he was a poor choice for the role and gave far too tentative of a performance. I just never felt like I was watching a young version of the guy we meet in the Cantina in Ep. IV. The establishing 20 minutes felt generic and almost led me to bail on the movie. Things didn't really get going until Lando turned up -- Donald Glover stole the movie, he totally inhabited that role and made me wish I was watching a young Lando movie instead. Or that they'd taken as much care (or got as lucky) casting the Han part. I enjoyed Woodie's part as well. But their performances couldn't save a very mediocre movie. Beyond the glaring problem that any prequel faces -- the story is presumptively pointless because we already know exactly where all of the characters we care about will end up -- they made a number of bad calls along the way (e.g. Lando's cloyingly activist droid, Han throwing his lot in with rebels he hardly knew more readily than he did with Luke and co. in Ep. IV, and the atrocious wookie masks in the mines). Definitely not as entertaining as TLJ -- which despite it's many flaws I was never tempted to walk out on -- and not something I'd see again.

I mentioned the same thing to my wife after we saw this movie, it would've been better if it was just a movie about Lando and how he lost the flacon and Han could've been the cameo. Probably would've been more of a comedy but probably would've watched that more than once.

I’m interested in how much they borrow from the Expanded Universe story for Palpatine. In Dark Empire he came back to life because he had clones on reserve in case he died and he basically resurrected himself. Luke also fell to the dark side in that story too so that’s probably some of the influence for Dark Rey.

    Quoted from oktobernv:

New "Obi" trailer is out with VADER in it.

That shot of vader in front of the tracking map looks exactly like it was from the Rogue One trailers, wonder if theyre going to borrow unused footage from the reshoots.
