Here is where I'm at: Better than the prequels...worse than the originals. I gave it 6.5 to 7 rating.

    1) You can certainly drop bombs in space! The ship they are being dropped from has gravity. Therefore the bombs drop from the ship. Once they hit open space they continue on their path at the same speed until they hit something.

    2) You can survive in open space for several minutes. In fact you would die of suffocation before you would die from freezing.

    3) Leia has always been strong in the force. She's used it to some degree in every movie she's been in. Makes sense that she would be even stronger with it at this point.

    Quoted from Brijam:

The bomber sequence was awesome. Who cares if bombs don't drop in space? It was epic!

Last time...bombs could (and as presented would) drop in outer space.

I saw Star Wars IV when I was 10 and it was the greatest thing I had ever seen. V was great, VI was okay (got a little "kiddie" for me)....then the long wait...and then the Disaster Phantom Menace.

1,2&3 were not all bad...they all had some good parts and some good characters...but the bad was SOOO BAD. I can't fathom that anyone (anyone) thinks VIII was worse than 1-3.

Was VIII great? NO. 4-7 and Rouge One where all better. But it wasn't a complete disaster either. It did not live up to most people's expectations of what was going to happen. People do not like that.

Go sit and re-watch it with NO expectations of how it should have gone...it gets a little better (still not great), but better.

    Quoted from flynnibus:

That is the worst explaination attempted I've seen. Gravity is not an up/down thing - it's a force vector towards something. If you want to say it was gravity, going AWAY from your center doesn't create a PUSH. Gravity is a vector towards the mass.. so going out the 'other side' means the vector points the other way.
The only thing that makes sense is the idea the bombs are 'pushed' - but that's not the sense that is setup with the whole thing trying to mimic a WWII bombing run. And I guess there is some force field that is keeping the interior of the ship intact?
    Quoted from Astropin:

What are you going on about? The ship with the bombs had gravity. When they release them they are going to "fall" out of the bomb doors due to that gravitational force. Did you not see her fall from the upper deck to the lower deck inside the bomb hanger? She then had to kick the remote from the edge of the upper deck so it would "fall" to her....just like the bombs would fall out the doors once released.

Once they travel out the doors they will continue on the same path at the same speed until they hit something.

I wonder if there’s a point where people truly do get sick of it?

Nope...I was indroconated as a young child and will forever go see everything Star Wars.

    Quoted from Fifty:

I didn't even think about it not being possible to actually "drop" the bombs in outer space.

Well some more...becasue it is possible. I can't believe people are still saying this.

    Quoted from CaptainNeo:

technically it's not possible, unless they were spring loaded or something to launch them that direction. Which the way it was filmed, was not possible the way they portrayed it.

They way it was portrayed in the movie it would work...that has been my entire point. There was a gravitational force in those bombers!. She fell from the upper deck to the lower deck. The bombs would also fall out the bottom from that same force! Once they leave the bomber they will continue on their path at the same speed until they hit something (or run into another gravitational force).

    Quoted from Black_Knight:

There is no way the bombs could have achieved escape velocity using gravitational acceleration only.

The ship isn't a planet...the interior gravitational force doesn't apply to objects outside of the ship so no "escape velocity" would be required. The "simulated" 1-G (or whatever the standard is in the Star Wars universe) inside the ship does not act on other objects in space as if it had the full gravity of a planet.

So that simulated force is pulling down on the bombs. Once released (if the doors are open) they fall right out of the ship. Once out they are no longer affected by the ship but they do have a velocity and a direction...which they would then proceed on until they hit something...or come across another strong gravitational field.

The whole - Finn / Rose thing...I took it that she fell for him but that it wasn't mutual.

    Quoted from PanzerFreak:

The Last Jedi seems worse after you watch The Force Awakens which I think is a great film.
TFA did a great job building up the new characters, and incorporating the older ones. TLJ seems to ruin everything that The Force Awakens built in terms of character development.
Take the last scene from TFA for example where Rey goes to find Luke. Luke wanted to be found in the event he was needed again and when Rey finally does see Luke he's in full on Jedi garbs looking like a powerful Jedi Master. In Luke's eyes during the scene you can see emotion and contemplation as if he's thinking "It's time to help once again". TLJ ruins this moment and the character by having Luke just toss the lightsaber, immediately changing into rags from his Jedi outfit, and then not giving a crap about helping. It just doesn't make sense and Luke comes across as two completely different characters from TFA and TLJ.

I totally agree. It almost feels like a vendetta against JJA. Anybody know anything about that?

How does Abrams feel about TLJ ...really feel?

    Thanks for your elaborate dissertation.
