To me, Luke died because he'd used everything he had to projection-fight Kylo.
It could have been about 15 minutes shorter, but _absolutely_ better than any of the prequels.

Not sure about the whole "SJW" thing, but that edit sure cut out a whole pantload of useless cruft. I knew it was too long, but not _that much_ too long.
Quoted from bigdaddy07:I've got it! Just have the opening scene show Luke waking up from the terrible nightmare that was TLJ and move on from there, as if it never happened.
...and he goes in to take a shower and Bobby Ewing is there.
Quoted from TRAMD:Perhaps it is my own myopia but I believe people just like me are largely responsible for Solo's poor performance. I am a big Star Wars and movie fan. I frequently go to big movies on opening night and go hours early to get good seats. And I also invite my 5-6 buddies to go with me. Then I go see it again. Then I take my kids to it. If I don't go, my buddies don't go. They like movies but I am the driving force that actually gets them to these big movies on opening weekend; otherwise they'd wait until it is in the budget theater or out on Blu-ray. If I don't go, my kids don't go. Oh, I have 5 kids. Five of us went to TLJ together. If it was as good as it should have been, I would have gone again and again with my kids (Just like I did with TFA, The Avengers, etc). They got 5 tickets out of me when it should have been 12. Fool me once...For Solo, they got zero. For Episode 9, they get zero...and so forth until TLJ is removed from canon and it is guaranteed that Rian Johnson never makes another SW movie. I also won't buy either TLJ or Solo in any sort of media when I happily bought TFA on Blu-Ray. I am fucking pissed and I will speak with the only voice I have: my money.
I could not have said it better.
Quoted from resipsa:Could you imagine if Empire came out today how nuts people would go over similar minor issues?
No, I can't, because while there _were_ some "minor issues" in Empire, it didn't summarily destroy all of the carefully-build plot threads from ANH, leaving fans with little or no reason to want to see the 3rd movie of the trilogy.
If Empire had been anywhere near as poor as TLJ, the franchise would have died in 1983.
Quoted from racer_x:Even if you consider them to be the worst movies ever made, at least the prequels didn't shit all over the original trilogy.
"Midichlorians".
Quoted from Methos:I have no idea how that was even allowed to be released. Disney should have held it back for 6 months, done a shit load of reshoots, and fixed it.
Considering all the commercial tie-ins, there's no way that holding it back for 6 months flies.
Quoted from PinSinner:They should just start Episode 9 with Luke waking up from a bad dream. Carry on as if that whole TLJ movie was a bad nightmare. Problem solved.
Bobby Ewing to the rescue!
Quoted from vicjw66:When I see Deadpool's girlfriend get thrown off an 80 foot high ship in dry dock onto the ground and not seem the least bit injured that ruins a movie for me. She's not a superhero, she would be in a world of hurt.
In the source material, Vanessa is "Copycat", a shape-shifting mutant. The movies haven't shown that, yet, but the writers have expressed interest in adding that into a future story.
Big DP fans here: we saw Once Upon... last night, and thought it was _hilarious_. The Savage scenes are absolute gold. Those of us who have DP2 memorized could fill in the missing scenes, and appreciated some of the "alt" jokes and bits from the DVD extras; we noticed a _lot_ of big laughter from audience members who'd obviously never seen the R-rated DP2.
I shouldn't have to say this for a Marvel movie, but STAY THROUGH THE CREDITS. A number of people left early, and missed a very touching finish.
Bravo to RR and Fudge Cancer.
Quoted from gdonovan:to refocus expenditure and limit Star Wars exposure to reset the franchise and allow fans to heal."
Maybe they _have_ actually been listening to us.
