Quoted from northvibe:I don't think they could ever make a movie that original fans would like.
I think I agree with most of your opinions of the movie and that seems to have proved this comment you made wrong.
You sound like a fan of the originals and you also sound like you liked The Last Jedi. I'm in the same boat...so that proves there are some old school Star Wars fans that DO like the newer movies.
Now I'm gonna rank the movies from shitish to shiney (in my opinion):
Attack of the Clones
The Clone Wars (It's a canon movie. I only watched it one time so I would say it may just be more forgettable than bad)
The Phantom Menace (Many missteps here, but I still don't think it deserves the hate it got from bitter, old Star Wars fans)
Revenge of the Sith
Return of the Jedi (I really only loved the Tatooine / Han rescue opening. Even at 13, I thought the Ewoks were a bad idea and felt a bit disappointed with the movie. Vader's redemption at the end was good though)
I would put the break here from "not so good" to "good"
The Last Jedi (a very different Star Wars movie...yet it has some very familiar parts to it)
The Force Awakens (The most "Star Warsy" Star Wars movie of all??)
Rogue One
A New Hope (also gets an honorable mention for being the first and without it...none of them would even be here)
The Empire Strikes Back
On a final note....if it's one thing that I LOVED from The Last Jedi it was Kylo saying Rey's parents were no one of importance. That is great in my opinion, especially after all of the speculation. I don't think she needs to be or should be, from a family that we have heard of before. I really hope that was true and it did seem to be what she also believed in her heart....so I really hope they don't back peddle on that one and try to explain she IS born of someone with force importance and he was just saying that to her.
