As a kid I saw the original Star Wars -in the theater- more than two dozen times. I've seen all of them on opening day, including the first one. So I really like Star Wars.
You have to watch a Star Wars movie with the mindset of a ten year old. It's kind of silly to expect anything more from a lightweight fantasy franchise like this. Grab a bucket of popcorn, turn off your brain and enjoy the ride.
It's even sillier to try and map actual physics to Star Wars. There's literally nothing about the whole series that conforms to reality. But who cares? It's fun!
The bomber sequence was awesome. Who cares if bombs don't drop in space? It was epic!
I loved it when Luke threw his light saber away! It totally set the tone for the movie.
The lightspeed ram attack kicked ass! Who cares why they didn't use it before?
Etc, etc, etc.
I laughed, I clapped, I enjoyed the hell out of it. I spent about an hour having about as much fun talking shit about it with friends too. But you know what, I'm going to go see it again.
