I think the trailer looks kind of good...but I thought the same about TLJ trailers too. Never again. I am boycotting everything TLJ, Solo, Episode 9 until Rian Johnson is fired, Kathleen Kennedy is fired and TLJ is removed from canon. As that is unlikely to happen, I will have to get my Star Wars movie kicks from the first 8 films.

    #1702 6 years ago

Saw the new Solo trailer, and I can't tell if I have TLJ goggles on....gave me an "uh oh" vibe.
I might like Alden in other roles, but he just looks wrong as Han Solo to me.

    #1703 6 years ago

I honestly think this looks all right and depending on the reviews of non film critics I may go see it. With the current state of Star Wars this will be relegated to cheap theater run for me.

    #1704 6 years ago

Trailer for Solo actually gives me a little hope (ha), but of course it's a trailer and that's what they do. After Rogue 1 I'm not surprised if all the footage is left out of the movie.
The best part is it seems to not be involved with any other SW shiz. They'll probably go a little far down the whole Western aspect but whatever.

    Quoted from TheLaw:

I wouldn't be surprised if Han Solo isn't even in this movie because of how the trailers are now.

Yep something seems “off”. They should have made a Lando prequel. Now THAT I will see, you know that would be funny

I still think Lando should have been the code breaker they were seeking in TLJ

That would have been awesome, but it would have made the rest of the movie hurt worse...

Man why do you want to pull more characters into that POS movie? My god I wish none of the characters I like had to live through it.

I'm surprised they didn't show Lando in the jail on casino land for being a womanizer

Don’t you have to get some action to be a womanizer? Lando took a failed swing at Leia, but you can’t blame him she was one of like three ladies in space at that time. His odds would be much improved in the newer films.

Ba! She's all talk. Wouldn;t even give Han a solo in halls of Hoth but by the end she's in love with him? Snoooozefest.

It’s him AND his kid Jon, so .. hard to know what to expect. Hopefully a little tough love got into the script so it’s not Larry selling a POS

You think anything that happened in the other films matters in TLJ

Leia flying around in space and not bloating up and dying was the dumbest thing I've ever seen.

Even dumber than the laser cannons having sound in the vacuum of space.....

harrison ford took a dump in my condo in jackson wy once while shooting "water to wine"..true story.

i watched TLJ again, it wasn't as bad as the first time...probably because i had higher expectations in the theater.

The title was accurate. That's about it.

Disappointing performance by those down-vote bots, I figured they would have got it down into single digits by now.

I don't know what it is but the actor playing Han has a weird looking face to me. I just can't get past it.

The most recent trailer definitely has a different vibe then the previous ones and made me feel a tad better about it but I am still going in super skeptical.

Well, I can tell you that not a lot of people are defending this picture, here or anywhere. Even in this thread if you go back to the first few pages, there were some folks actually defended this POS, but later in the thread, some of them decidedly changed their tone. This movie is a disaster from every angle, the question you should be asking is who the hell are those people who actually voted up this movie and how can I relieve them of their money.

Yeah, the internet nerds did not love it. I’m probably the biggest fan in this thread and I’ve said since day one that it was more enjoyable than not, but not great.

That said, and this is entirely anecdotal, I saw it with two large groups of non-nerds, and to a person they enjoyed it. Now they’re probably not nerdy enough to be writing online movie reviews either, but nevertheless there are definitely folks out there that liked it.

I had a good time watching it live on opening night with a giant group of friends in a rented out private theater (only the treatment of Luke, the ram, and flying Leia really bothered me in the theater).

The more time that passed the more irritated I became when I thought of the plot holes and what it did to the franchise in general. When I started reading all the garbage “positive” reviews from “experts” I got really irritated.

    1977-1983:

Golden age of Star Wars. Bar set way too high

    1999-2018:

Episode 1: Sucked JarJar balls. Take your midi-chlorians and shove 'em up your ***
Episode 2: Convoluted, cliché and thin. The movie is in my very soul, tormenting me
Episode 3: Almost made up for the trilogy being a train wreck, then Darth Vader went all Frankenstein and yelled "NNNnnnoooooooooooooooo!!!!"
Episode 7: Let's tell the story again but this time it's a girl. Shocker. Let's get Andy Serkis to do his evil voice on a CG character. Shocker.
Rogue One: Came out of nowhere and was great. The most "star warsy" movie since 1983, though "droids with attitudes" are wearing me out
Episode 8: Carrie Poppins and that drunk Uncle Pennybags wannabe sticking coins in BB8. No thanks.
Solo: A Star Wars Story: The first major trailer had droids with attitudes set to the song "Sabotage." Yikes. Oh look it's another movie where a character says "I'm putting together a crew." Shocker.

Final thought: It all doesn't matter. I'm a consumer whore, have seen every movie and have thrown "I don't even want to know" money at this franchise. Can't get enough of it. Never will.

Well you better get ready for L3-37! Lando’s droid partner from the upcoming Solo movie!

    SHOCKER: The robot is female!
    SHOCKER: She’s a one-of-a-kind individual! She’s got attitude & she knows it!
SHOCKER: She’s self-modified! She depends on no one! She can do anything!
SHOCKER: She’s free! She has no owner! She is not a piece of property!

So I guess another SWJ theme for Solo will be to address the unjust oppression that droids have been forced to face in the Star Wars universe up until now. After 40+ years, we are FINALLY getting a Star Wars movie that addresses droid slavery at the hands of their evil masters! The topic we’ve all been waiting for Disney to address! Shorter shifts & equal pay for R2D2 working on Jabba’s Sail Barge. That’s what I say. #POWERTOTHEDROIDS

Can’t believe I’m writing this shit. Already hate this character. Pretty sure I will hate this movie too.

Wow you must have rich friends with a lot of coke because that movie sucked ass in the theatre...I mean unless you all were MSTK-ing it the whole time.

    Quoted from Underspin:

Episode 3: Almost made up for the trilogy being a train wreck, then Darth Vader went all Frankenstein and yelled "NNNnnnoooooooooooooooo!!!!"

You should really watch it again...it's the worst/most insulting prequel.

Women are badass enough as they are. They don’t need some shit like this to prove they are badass.
If I was a chick I’d be insulted at the fact that writers feel the need to do this subliminal shit to put women in the spot light.

Such as Poe being surprised that haldo was a woman. REALLY?!!! He takes orders from Leia herself and he is SURPRISED that haldo could possibly be a woman to the point of verbally saying something to his peers. Or this undertone where if you watch Rey do something and question her, you’re automatically labeled a sexist pig because you can’t believe she’s strong with the force just because.

This movie should be called Social Justice Wars: The Last Snowflake
And Solo looks like it’s falling right inline with the agenda.

WTF Tiger? The lone fighter against the Star Destroyer, the hold the line joke, the Light Saber over the shoulder joke, the Porgs, the weird hole in the ground on the island that was never explained, the whole casino excursion, the Rose character, Admiral Pinky Winky, Captain Phasma's death, Snoke death, the whole long distance force BS, Yoda's embarrassing dialogue, all of that didn't bother you?

Snoke’s death bothered me too. But generally, nah, the lame jokes were “okay” (just okay) on an initial viewing in a packed theater filled with my buddies on opening night (I actually still like the Porgs). It was over the coming days as I thought about it that I realized the permanent damage the movie did to the franchise.

    Attention, rant incoming!

Here's another thing that bugs me about Episode 7 and 8, well the whole new trilogy in general, lol. Disney keeps saying that Episode 7, 8, and 9 are a continuation of the Skywalker saga. Nope, BS! Disney has until the end of time to create Star Wars movies and as a result Episodes 7, 8, and 9 should have been more about the original characters and ending their stories over 3 films but instead they were just used as bait to get fans of the series into the theater only to then quickly pass everything off to new characters. There's nothing wrong with the new characters in my opinion but they are clearly the focus of these 3 movies, not the originals so for Disney to keep saying that Episodes 7, 8 and 9 are about Skywalkers story is a big lie! BS!

In Episodes 7 and 8 there are major points made about finding Luke Skywalker and the lure of the character. However, Disney never committed to giving Luke Skywalker ample screen time, instead he was simply used to move the new characters stories forward.

To speed the entire hand off process up Disney began killing off major characters. What a shame considering that Disney had the one chance to have Carrier Fisher, Mark Hamill, and Harrison Ford all on screen together again. They wasted that opportunity in part to create BB8 and Porgs to sell more toys.

Just read the article below about a recent ABC News interview with Mark Hamill. He doesn't even want to return as Luke Skywalker now in part because of the way the films were created. Again what an incredible once in a universe opportunity that Disney wasted.

    http://m.ign.com/articles/2018/04/12/star-wars-mark-hamill-explains-why-he-doesnt-care-about-returning-as-luke

And finally! Lol. I think the entire First Order concept is lame. That's right, it sucks. After destroying the Empire in Return of the Jedi what is essentially the Empire again returns and is even bigger just 30 years later. BS!

    Rant end!

First Order is the biggest problem with these new movies because it just doesn't make sense.

How does a splinter cell group build something 10 times bigger than the Death Star? Remember when all the Nazis who fled to Brazil started their own airforce and invaded North America? Me either.

But again, Lucas drew from history while the new writers are drawing blanks.

Well this guy wants the kick him in his smug face. Not sure if that’s close enough for your purposes:

    Quoted from TRAMD:

I want to kick Rian in his fucking smug face so bad. The film fan in me wants nothing more than for them to abolish this film as non-canon and make a new one.

I thought that was weird in TFA too. What happened to the Rebels winning in episode 6 and restoring peace to the galaxy? In 30 years they are able to totally dominate the galaxy and make this super weapon?? Yeeeeeaaaaahhhh. Still, that plot point is somehow acceptable to me...the ones in TLJ are far worse.

Ok flame suit on for the SJWs in the crowd. I’m not a misogynist in anyway but if you watch this and don’t agree that it makes the movie go from a 2 to 7.5 you’re Kathleen Kennedy.

Watch the whole thing before you start bitching if you plan on crying about this. But the fact that there is so much agenda shoved down your throat in this movie that this opportunity even presented itself says something.

    Leia’s death scene done right.
    No porgs!
    No stupid humor!
    Practically no Rose!
    Casino scene gone!
    What a great movie!!!
