Hello all this is my first machine and also my first post. Hoping for a little help or guidance. I looked for pinned topics, so i didn't ask the obvious newby questions. My Spirit of 76 has some issues and I'm looking for a thread that will give me basic knowledge to help diagnose the issue. First places to look. Thanks in advance. Here is a link to a YouTube video i posted of what it is doing.

colehvac1 could offer some insight. Looks like it’s stuck in a never ending reset loop

A big thing I see on this era of pinball is making sure your bonus countdown switches are resetting correctly. Lift the playfield and make sure the switches are good on the bonus countdown unit.
And congrats on the game!

Roll a ball through the trough from the outhole/drain and see if the game starts.

Did all the score reels reset on their own?

Also, maybe first check the switch in the outhole/drain. Make sure the game knows there’s a ball there.

There's this thread:

In which Rolf includes this link:

On youtube, havepinwilltravel has a series of videos using Spirit of 76 including his pinball torture test series...

Your Ax relay may need some attention.

Do what Clay does:

It looks like your reels are resetting and that your player unit is advancing to the zero position. The last step is as follows :

“When P5A on the player unit closes, AX and BX relays reset through motor 2C and switches on U, O, and R relays. The reset cycle is now complete.”

I found relay U looks torched. Also what is p5a?

P5A is the 1st switch an the 5th cam on the player unit in the backbox. It closes when the player unit reaches its zero or “home” position.
