at the end of the thread the solution he found was:
problem solved. the "node board 8(controller board?)" had a defective serial/parallel shifter chip U4. replaced and working again.

I'm encouraged that lamp boards are more repairable than others, apparently. I have PM'd Borygard and hope to hear from him soon.
