Quoted from BC_Gambit:really great for if you were say putting these in an environment where they vibrated around alot as part of their expected use...
Gary used to complain about how much wiring goes into a pinball machine at pretty much every Pinball Expo and probably anywhere else anyone would listen. "As much or more wiring than a new car" or something to that effect, as I recall. I'm sure he wanted to eliminate as much wiring as possible by getting all of the boards out of the head and onto the playfield as part of the Spike system design criteria. Sweet, he saved wiring, so no more complaining about it at Expo and everywhere else. Unfortunately, now they're all on the bottom of the playfield subject to vibration as you noted. Isolation from vibration was one of the reasons they were in the heads to begin with. Oh, and isolation from conductive dust. I can't wait to see the chaos conductive dust will cause in a few years. HUO guys who don't play the hell out of the machines probably are safe from it, but operators, not so much.
