I have a Spider-Man 2007 that is stuck in a boot loop. Here is what happened:
Game was playing fine. Started multiball and all 3 flippers locked on. Turned the game off. Turned game back on now it is resetting when it tries to boot.

After the fact I realized the eos on the right flipper was broken off. Coils didnt melt or burn up, beeped fuses and none blew, and visually no transistors blew. All voltages checked out except 50v was 73v. Would this prevent boot? Any ideas where to start?

When it is trying to boot the flipper relay clicks on then clicks off.

Haven't worked on SAM games before so all ideas would be appreciated. Thanks for any help

EOS shouldn't have caused any issues related to this, i don't believe. game would operate fine w/o it, and should compensate in the software.

The 73VDC at the coils won't stop the game from booting. How far does it get before it reboots?

Yeah, FWIW (going from memory and my experience with WPT) the EOS does not really matter that much. I fixed the EOS on my WPT but did not really notice a difference, it definitely booted without it.

Try booting the game with the flipper fuses removed.

Quoted from bobukcat:

Display comes on shows a previous score and says game over. The the GI turns on, the relay on power board clicks, the leds next to the fuses F1-F4 light up. Then it reboots. The lights next to all the other fuses on power board stay lit but next to F1-F4 they turn off and come back on..

Just tried this. No change

Do the LEDs on the driver board indicate what might be wrong? L18 on power board lights up then turns off when it resets.

Any ideas for why the flipper coils would have "locked up" in the first place? It happened right when Doc Ock multiball was starting.

Could the flipper coils locking on damage the boards?

I took a look at the game today and made the following notes. No conclusions made, although I suspect it is an issue with the CPU/Sound board.

Reset loop (driver board L18 goes out on reset)
5VDC OK on driver and CPU.
3.3VDC OK on CPU.
CPU LED3 flashing yellow, turns off on reset.
CPU LED2 never turns on.
Reset loop the same if all cables disconnected from CPU board except power in.
Reset# stays on 3.3VDC during reboot.
