Quoted from pinnyheadhead:I dont think so. That would just keep those who are on the fence for a game on the fence.
If the situation was right, it could happen. Say Stern was expecting to move a substantial amount of these and orders were slow to none. We'd probably see something announced within a few weeks. Kind of what could come true with smve. On the other hand if Stern is testing the market and would be content with sales of 250, they probably wouldn't give current pricing a second thought.
There are enough reasons raised in this thread that Stern could use as justification. SMVE (after removing extra bling) and a MSRP of $5.995k (street price $5k) would make many more people interested. The option of offering a SM pro vault edition at $5k would be very tempting. Come on Stern, give us a Spidey we can afford.
Quoted from frolic:I think that's a fair assessment, and not really a negative point. I don't think Stern was trying to convince Red owners to sell their machines and upgrade. This was merely a way to roll out a small pin release, sell x hundred units, have something for the factory to prroduce, and make enough to cover whatever expenses there was in doing it and make some profit.
Quoted from Aurich:Almost nothing else to say after that, perfectly summed up.
Except that Stern could have chosen option b. Release SMr as originally designed. Could have saved a bunch of time, attention and money. Priced it at $5k and sold a thousand. But I guess plan a was the way to go. Damn shame in my opinion.
