Spiderman IS a premium game, if it were released today for the first time it would most definitely be a Premium machine at a premium price.
Why is that? Because the price of a game is based on the materials it takes to make that game on the line, and what does that translate to for Stern or any other manufacturer? METAL AND COPPER (as in 3 motors - middle bank, sand man, AND Dock Oct, all the copper coils for multiple saucers and VUKs, multiple full metal habitrails both as ball returns and horizontal ball diverters along with all the standard magnets, flippers, and targets, wire looms, and transformers that Stern always uses). The value in a game is not always what's above the pf but what it takes to work it BELOW the pf. If you ever wonder what the Bill of Materials is on a game, lift the playfield that will tell you the story.
I attached some photos to illustrate (courtesy of Pinball News):
First image is Spiderman
Second is Star Trek
The last is Hobbit
As you can see it's all in the metal, Spiderman is Premium level materials, besides LEDs, side rails, shaker that they added. Iron Man, ACDC or any other PRO level game only has 1 motor and has fewer coils and less everything. Bottom line, you guys complaining about Spiderman's price should be complaining about Star Trek Premium's price or any other Premium and ask them why my Premium game isn't 5000 dollars :p
