Quoted from MRG:100% better then the movie clips.
Looking at that makes me think that a color LCD with "motion comic" style art would be cool for a comic themed game. A lot of those animations are just still characters that shift around, you could do that in high rez.
Would totally fit the comic theme, and would be way cheaper than trying to actually animate everything like a cartoon. Use parallax scrolling to bring a little depth to things.
I had the oppertunity to play this Vault Edition at EAG in London yesterday - unfortunately - I haven't really paid attention to the significance of the machine compared to the other editions of Spiderman.
Other than to say - its a sweet game to play. I would have probably turned up the shaker - I'm used to the bone rattling shaker performance on WOZ and LOTRLE - and to me - it was't prominent enough.
I liked the engraved side rails, and artwork.
Compared to the other 3 machines next to it (Star Trek, Kiss, and Game of Thrones), I thought it was leagues ahead of all 3 in all areas.
I realise the others where pro's and not 'Edition' models - but still - those are my thoughts.
I feel a little embarressed to not be able to comment more on the differences compared with other Spiderman models. I feel though that JJP has advanced machines far more - and to re-release a game without much of significant improvement in tech is a bit of a shame.
Had Hobit been at the show - it would have overshadowed it entirly.
Its still a damn enjoyable game to play though.

What's the deal with the "Tell MJ" mode? Seems like each shot makes Peter say "YES" and MJ say "NO". Weird. Even though the movie dots are blurry, I prefer the movie story of Spidey beating up the bad guys with each shot made and then the final shot showing the iconic upside-down kiss.
Really enjoyed the dots, but the callouts weren't my favorite. The comic book style stills were charming and fit with the re-theme quite well.

I think it's more like a "should I tell MJ my identity?" type thing where he alternates between Yes and No for each shot. Presumably there is a different animation for winning.
I think original SM with ColorDMD treatment ala IM will be spectacular, but these animations are pretty cool. Just really don't like the Green Goblin there.

I know - it might tempt me to wanna get it again....but gah, I don't think I'll ever find one as nice as my old one.

Oh, you dumped yours? Man...I can go a year literally without turning mine on, but can't bring myself to sell it. It's a top 3 game all time for me and when I do go back and play it I know why. It's almost perfection.

Yeah I sold it a few years ago - I had over 4000 plays on it and just never really wanted to play it anymore. When I was in the mood for something fast and flowy I'd always gravitate toward Tron, ACDC or Metallica. Spidey just didn't seem to need to be there anymore. I still think it's awesome, I just did my time on it!
Quoted from venom112:Does anyone know when this will actually in stock with distributors? When will it be in production?
I have heard its hitting the line next month
Quoted from Jojo1111:Spiderman IS a premium game, if it were released today for the first time it would most definitely be a Premium machine at a premium price.
Agree, but it's not a first time release of a new game!
If I wanted to hire these guys to help me with a new pinball machine and all I wanted from them was concepts, design and mechanics. How much would it cost me today?
Concept by: Steve Ritchie, Lyman F. Sheats Jr.
Design by: Steve Ritchie
Mechanics by: John Rotharmel, Mike Redoble, Rob Blakeman
Whatever that number is, that's what Stern saved by remaking SMVE. I can't speak for everyone, but I was hoping they'd pass those saving along to all of us. Same goes for any VE down the road. If they can't sell it for cheaper than a first run brand spanking new title then save your time and don't make VE games.

No idea why people are OBSESSED with thinking a company is going to pass saving on to them. I remember it happening like once in the early 80s, Scooner Tuna, but that's aboot it.

That is the winner for the reference of the day

I'm not a fan of what I see in this video. A lot of static images flying across the screen. The YouTube clip makes me laugh a little "Hit Sandman to Completed"
at this price point this thing desperately needed a color DMD included. if Stern is going to ignore LCD screens, at least give me a color DMD

What a disappointment. As you say, almost completely still images sliding across the screen. Though I like that they are using the entire screen. On the bright side, colorizing this should be a snap.
Quoted from vid1900:I wish Stern were like Microsoft.
Windows 10 is free.....
Yes, until they sell you a $499.99 topper.
Quoted from xTheBlackKnightx:The Amazing Spiderman in its true glory.
Stern could have taken some art and playfield tips for game advancement.maxresdefault_(resized).jpg
That is a really good table

Obviously a tribute to you ooze you loose.
Quoted from metahugh:What is the condition of the original field?
The original isn't bad, but there's heavy wear around the Ock magnet.
Quoted from cscmtp:Look at my history jack wagon, I've bought over a dozen Stern pinball machines, including the SM that came out in 2007. Why should we be paying THOUSANDS more now for the same freaking game with just new artwork?
Thousands more for a Premium sounds about par to me? Not just woeful so called art replaced with something pretty special, but a shaker motor, siderails, red dmd with awesome graphics,Led's throughout and not to mention how the broken toys were a real turnoff and devalued SM have now been replaced with something said to be a lot more durable. Still I'm interested to know how many they'll make.
