Quoted from DCFAN:Welp, it is official, it is the kiddie spider-man edition.
I'd be willing to bet that in the future, it'll be this version of Spider-Man that collectors will be clamoring for. The art is timeless and isn't locked into using photorealistic artwork from a lackluster movie.
Wow, that looks nice.
If it weren't for all of the recent quality issues with Stern machines, I would be all over this.
Quoted from cscmtp:I hope NO ONE buys this. Its just absurd where prices are going.
I thought your comment was pretty stupid till I saw this, now it makes sense.
Quoted from drgnlair:keeping my black spidy
Me too - will the new software update the previous version?
I like the thwip rails. That's about it. I'm perfectly happy keeping my $2500 burnt version with Simmons callouts. "Play better!"
I certainly prefer the new look, but for the price, meh. The revised Doc Ock magnet design looks like it should decrease the mushrooming issues and such that I've seen in that area, so that's nice.
Can't wait to see the new animations, they can certainly churn up some cool comic-style scenes.
Quoted from Banker:Looks great, glad I have my 2010 run .
Quoted from drgnlair:keeping my black spidy
I'm in the same boat. I'll definitely keep (and enjoy) my current spidey
Quoted from BoJo:They even kept Rarehero's favorite "glow" feature around the characters on the PF
Also, how about the red spider-man floating head at the left flipper. That is some sorry artistry.
And the slingshots
I believe the Sandman and Doc Ock are still on platforms that go up and down.
The Goblin that looks more like Hulk appears that it may be stationary now.

Downvoted becuase of the ridiculousness of your statement when you know 99.9% of us can't buy a toasty 2500 buck Spiderman.
well, I was hoping for something a little different. I wanted old school, dark spidey. I got bright and anorexic spidey. oh well, back to my ironman ve.
I think it looks amazing. Price is the new reality of pinball. I said this a month ago when Spooky revealed the price of RZ...they left a thousand or two on the table. It's gorgeous though.
But how will it play and will code be complete?
/me ducks :p
In all seriousness, is that protector around ock magnet?
Quoted from forensicd:I got bright and anorexic spidey. oh well, back to my ironman ve.
Funny, I thought I was the only one that immediately thought of "anorexic" spidey when I saw the cab. I'm going to have nightmares of this spiderman looking at me though. I do like the background colors a bit better though.
Quoted from catboxer:So cheap! Buy 2 and throw one out when the rubbers get dirty.
That's what she said.
Quoted from Wamprat:I'm really glad I bought a 2nd hand original SM recently.
I am with you. Bought mine 1 month ago, despite the VE rumours and I am glad I did.
This is the kiddie version, I prefer the old one.
The production quality of the photographed playfield is awful

Orangepeel in left outlane, edging on spider sense inserts. Hope the shipped games are better.

It's not really floating. It is attached to a poorly drawn body, but you have to look for it.
Quoted from BoJo:They even kept Rarehero's favorite "glow" feature around the characters on the PF
Hahaha...NOooooOOooo! Actually it doesn't stand out as much on this as usual - maybe because of the line art.
My initial impression:
-A little bummed that it's almost the same exact art as the original with the only differences being the live-action elements replaced. I was kind of hoping for a totally new creative take on the art package.
-Glad Doc Ock has a full body! No more torso.
-Sandman is huge! Looks cool, but wish he had a menacing "action expression" to go with his action pose.
-Goblin lost his spring mech...Wasn't expecting mechs/coils to be removed.
-Bonesaw replaced w/ Electro....New Goblin replaced with Jack O'Lantern. I had to look that up...didn't know that character. Why not Lizard or someone more known? Save MJ replaced with Tell MJ (a conversation based mode?)
-Don't get why they left "Argh! My eyes!" on the translite....seems...odd. If you're gonna have a speech bubble, why not a funny Spidey quip? If it's not too late, they should remove those speech bubbles from the final product.
Anyway - I prefer hand drawn pinball to the alternative...but due to it being SO similar to the original, it lessens the likelihood of me re-buying Spidey. It's a great option for someone who's never had the game & wants one NIB.
Quoted from kaneda:Can someone put the old next to the new for comparison sake?
Give me 5 mins. Will edit this post with it. Trying to find a decent PF photo now.
Edit... Here you go. Going to get flamed for this but after seeing them side by side I think I actually prefer the original more (ducking...). Some things I like better on the new art and other things I hate about the new art. Just can't get pasted the spiderman in the middle of the PF. I do like the new plastics better.
I don't own the original Spider-Man game but I would definitely prefer this new comic art package. Don't like the price though
Quoted from SilverBallz:It's not really floating. It is attached to a poorly drawn body, but you have to look for it.
It's not poorly drawn, but it's just kind of busy. There's a tangent of the "Shoot Again" Spider on Spidey's head...and it's blocking most of his body. The Green Goblin insert is causing a tangent on the top of his head. These things along with the flipper are framing his head to make it look like it's floating.
I'm so tempted on this one, SM is my favorite game ever, but the price is killing it for me.
I'd have to sell my existing game and my HEP cleared playfield I was going to swap in. My current game plays great AS-IS, I'm thinking I would be wasting my money to swap for this version anyways.
