Anyone here with experience with this MPU? The three ROMs are odd balls and have four CE lines each. I downloaded new ROMs in a 1k image each, but I am not sure how to set the address jumpers.

Also can anyone clarify the cmos memory reset procedure? looks like scrambled 5101 RAM data could stop this MPU from starting up.

maybe some rare mpu pr0n will get some info flowing.

I don't have the game. Someone sent me just the MPU to take a stab at.

Some info I was able to dig up. Not sure if you've seen them already or not. Scraping the web like this for every kernel of info is basically what I've been doing for some of my oddball pins which have little written info on them.

It looks like someone on the VPForums.org might be able to help with what's supposed to happen in the boot sequence.

Thank you!

You found much more than I did with my Googling efforts.

The rusty key website has rom jumper info, this should get me going. I could only find a text version of that info before with no jumper picture.

I wonder if this is from the one that was in the twin cities - I thought about buying it, price was right, but it looked like I'd never get it working beyond being a heavy paperweight.

Rather check this, he is the only one who fully repaired (my) a Spectra IV : http://www.flipprojets.fr/SpectraIV_EN.php

I know this is an old thread but I am currently working on a Spectra IV. I was able to read the contents of my three original PROM chips. U3 and U5 matched what was on IPDB.org but my U4 is different. I saved an image of that and am going to do a diff on the images to see what is different. My hope is that perhaps the image in my machine may prove to be a good original set. I'm just about done rebuilding my MPU board and will see if it runs.

The file for U4 on the ipdb is different from the file used in PinMame.
The CRC for u4 in PinMame is 15E53712 and the ipdb has B58F1205.
Curious to see which one you have.

I’ll pull down the pinmame version and compare those too.
