Quoted from ForceFlow:You could just get one cabinet and the modules to swap the game, as it was original intended
The ability to swap playfields (and translights) and change games in P2K cabinets was one of the features intended to appeal to vending operators (so they could purchase a kit when earnings from the original game slowed down in a couple years instead of having to purchase a whole new game) along with the separate key for removing the glass over the playfield without accessing the coin door (so operators could give this key to the bar or bowling alley people for them to use to free up ball traps and get the game back in service quickly instead of having to call the vending operator to come out).
Only two P2K titles were offered, both in 1999. There was never any chance for an operator to route a 1999 P2K game until 2002 and then buy a new 2002 kit and change the game over, because there weren't any later kits or games made. The feature was designed for an operator to switch games in a P2K cabinet once every few years. It would be a royal PITA for a homeowner to have one cab and both kits and have to keep changing back and forth in order to be able to play both games. Much nicer for the homeowner/collector to own both complete games.
