Quoted from McCune:Looking good ! How many times did you repaint the saying on the shirt ?
I stuck with Megadeth. Though I was about a nanosecond from the other idea.

I'll bite. What was the other idea? Nice work by the way?
Quoted from Frax:Damn...wanna do mine? Maybe give me a crash course?
Bloody hell.
Yeah, sure. Hit me up and tell me what colors you want.
Quoted from MustangPaul:Looks great. How many hours it take ya?
Maybe about 4 or 5 hours total? Not sure. Did it in part last night watching hockey and tonight watching baseball. Acrylics dry nice and fast and are ready for the shading and weathering pretty quickly.

Once you get the hang of dry brushing (for getting paint only on the 'high' areas like the tongue bumps) and wet washing (for getting paint into the 'low' areas like the wood grain on the chair) you can do it too. A quick google of those techniques used on miniatures will give you most of what you need to know.
Looks awesome, Gambit!
Quoted from Jeff_PHX_AZ:Looks good, what does that wire from the helmet connect to in the back?
It goes underneath the PF to a small inverter for the EL wire.
Quoted from TheNoTrashCougar:Should have made his shirt say "Napster" or "ThePirateBay.org".
You beat me to it!
Quoted from bigdaddy07:Looks great. I'd bet you could sell a few of these.
Has anyone used Pinball Refinery for the custom paint service? They list the price at $150 with a one week turnaround. Anyone know if that's based on their own design, or will they do whatever the customer wants?
I know this is a question I could ask them, but just wanted to know if anyone in this thread has used this service?

steve does incredible work and you won't be disappointed. the nebuchadnezzar and sentinel that he did for the matrix pinball which was brought to MPE this past weekend were amazing
Quoted from Frax:Looks great. I'm sure someone will complain about him being too shiny but looks awesome to me!
Yeah, the flash really made him look shiny. But I did use a satin clear on him, and would go with a matte finish on the next one. I wet sanded his shirt with some 900 grit sandpaper after the pics were taken, and it doesn't look so wet now.
I am going to get a new Sparky from Stern this week. When I have one in hand, I will probably offer a limited run of them to people that want to give me their particulars and then take their Sparky off and send to me in trade for the painted one. I would do it until I got tired of it, then quit abruptly.
I get the napster met legal battles, but im not sure id want my sparky to remind me of that douchy looking napster dude. Hes supposed to be creepy badass with a tick of comedy.

You can purchase Sparky's from Stern? Your painted Sparky looks great! I may be interested as well.

Yeah, they sell him. Dirty Donny makes vinyl art stuff that sells big, and a lot of his fans have bought Sparkys just to have. Pretty genius move by Stern, honestly.
Contacted JJ about getting me one tonight.
After seeing the hammer in the other thread, I thought I better give that a whirl, too. What a pain in the ass. I wouldn't do this one again, and certainly not for the $$ the other guy is charging to do it. This hammer does not take paint nearly as well as Sparky does. Need to clear it tomorrow.
In the meantime, I also got tired of my Sparky being so shiny, so I pulled him off today and shot over the (really thick and well shelled) satin finish clear with about 3 good coats of Testor's Dull Coat. That took the shine rigt off him nicely.

Lars needs one. Poor guy is bald even on he hammer sculpt.
Quoted from gambit3113:When painted, Monster Kirk looks more like Rick James than Kirk.
The Dave Chappelle impersonation of Rick James is one of my favorites. Beotch!
