Circumstances have aligned so I could make a mold of the Space Station ramp (via vacuum forming) and theoretically sell exact matches. But that is a huge financial commitment to make (for the mold), so I want to know what the interest is in those ramps for ~$125 each. If there aren't that many people needing a replacement ramp, no problem. This arose because of my melted ramp on my machine, which had fiberglass repair on the front part and a metal shield put in around the drop hole. I have a limited window of access to a perfect ramp, so the idea has come up to possible make them.

Let me know if you are/are not interested (and are Space Station owners) or if someone else is planning to do that (Pinball Inc.?).

Thanks
TT

I might be interested.

#3 5 years ago

I have a Space Station and I'd be in for a new ramp.

#4 5 years ago

I would think you would have many takers on this as the ramps are unobtainium. My SS ramp is still in pretty good shape and I have been thinking about selling the game - otherwise you could count me in. If nothing else, bump...

#5 5 years ago

Based of this and some other information gathering I only have about half the interest I need. So may not happen. Worth a flyer. Thanks.

#6 5 years ago

I would be in for one.

#7 5 years ago

Surprised that you are not getting more interest. I thought there were more Space Stations needing a ramp.

Mine is damaged and repaired by a previous owner. It plays fine but could look better. I don't really need a new one, but would be in if it could be clear or translucent. Not really worth it to replace with solid black.

#8 5 years ago

I'm surprised you're not getting much interest either. I don't know if I've ever seen a SS with that ramp that isn't broken. I'd probably pick one up.

#9 5 years ago

Yep - mine is repaired well , hardly noticeable ...... but I would almost certainly be in for a replacement.

I'd be surprised if many SS ramps are NOT damaged in some way.

#10 5 years ago

There was a SS with perfect plastics that sold around here for $1000 a couple of months ago. A definite rarity. Wish I got that one. I hadn't thought of clear ramps, was thinking too linearly. I think there isn't as much interest because a lot of people don't give this one a chance because of the lack of inlines (or they think it's Space Shuttle II). 'Oh no, I can't play it the way I play every other game.' Solid state era thinking. It's cool, they just miss out.

#11 5 years ago

I'd definitely be in for one.

#12 5 years ago

My ramps are not broken, however I would be interested in clear ramps.

I'm one of the fortunate one's with unbroken ramps as well.

#14 5 years ago

I would be in for a black ramp. I don't know about clear. If the ramp was clear you'd see this...

What about making a clear ramp...then put decals on the underside? That would hide some of the playfield stuff.

#16 5 years ago

I like the idea, but which decals?

Were the perfect plastics the playfield ones? Those could be found SO CHEAP for ages - I bought a set of NOS plastics for $30 shortly after I got the game.

And, to be totally fair to it, it totally IS Space Shuttle II. It doesn't make it a bad game - I'd actually argue it's a much better game then the original Space Shuttle and I'm a fan of the original - but the rules are more or less the same thing.

I also need a ramp. Along with the mini playfield up top but that's a whole different animal! I've repaired both but new would be so nice!

Ok, I was looking at completed eBay listings and found that somebody made clear ramps at some point. Check this listing out, particularly the 5th picture:

I would post a photo, but I am not sure if I can post a shot that I didn't take. If so I can just post the relevant picture.

That's what I'm talking about. I think that would look great with some type of cover/plastic/shroud/whatever over the VUK coil that is visible.

#22 5 years ago

I think the clear ramp looks killer!

#23 5 years ago

I would be in for a black replacement ramp or possibly translucent blue if possible

This is what my clear ramp looks like:

Translucent blue, now there is a great idea.

#26 5 years ago

Yeah Trans blue that matches the upper mini PF

#28 5 years ago

But where did you get your clear ramp? Surely someone knows who made these?

It came with my machine. I think it was an early model. On my backglass, the Space Station lights do not "rotate". But the flames on the other two shuttles flash as do the Williams logo.

I might be up for one as well. Thanks. Let us know if you do it.

Im In!!!

How's this going???

I vote for black or blue, clear would be ok if decals were sold along with
But, I think trans blue would look stellar!

ps... anywhere to get a new space station play field toy? mine is broken

#32 5 years ago

I am interested, trans blue or clear. Curious to hear if this still a possibility

Does anyone by chance happen to have this ramp out of their game? Would like a few photos of it. I'm making a clear ramp for my High Speed now and quite a few here on Pinside want one as well. Would consider making this one too. Clear (PETG) or black (ABS) is very doable. Colors generally require that the ramp be made of acrylic due to availability, but given this ramp is prone to breakage, would not recommend acrylic. PETG is 7 times more durable than acrylic.

#34 5 years ago

This table is made in future pinball or a similar format right???
If so, can someone convert the ramp and upper play field to a cad file with the proper dimensions?
If I can get the cad file, there are a few places locally that may be able to 3d print the ramp and the upper field for us!!!

TimeTraveler, I previously said I might be in for a ramp, but am definitely interested now as I just purchased a SS. I would prefer black... I'm a purist... what can I say? Let us know where you're at with this.

I also would definitely be interested in a replacement ramp for space station.

#37 5 years ago

I had to buy a whole 'nother Space Station to get a good ramp. But I'd still be in for a replacement if the quality is the same as the original. Black and shiny is the only way to go.

(Side rant: why do people always want to Skittle out classic pins? Congo with Creamsicle armor, for example...)

Quoted from swampfire:

Cuz we just like color. But yes sometimes it can go too far.

#39 5 years ago

I'm on the hunt for a nice Space Station, but I would preemptively buy a replacement ramp since they all seem to be damaged.

#40 5 years ago

Here is a link to my ramp LED mod. This would be a case for clear or transparent.

If clear ones are made, couldn't you spray them black from the underside to make them look stock if desired?

#42 5 years ago

I'd be up for one too if they get made. I have a lot of fiberglass on the backside of mine.

Quoted from kbliznick:

I suppose you could. But, if I do this I can also form it out of black ABS. PETG is just much stronger.

#44 5 years ago

Just spoke with a friend that has a Space Station that I can borrow to produce new ramps. Should be getting started on it in a week or so.

#45 5 years ago

That's great. As I was getting ready to repair my ramp using the edcheung.com method. I think now I will just wait.

#46 5 years ago

Sweet! What color did you decide to do? Any chance it's the translucent blue? That would allow people to do some of the cool LED mods shown without the need for any underneath decal to hide the stuff below.

#47 5 years ago

Will do clear for sure. Most likely a black ABS for those that want an original look. If I do colors they will have to be acrylic and I could do a dark or light translucent blue. Note that acrylics will cost probably $10 extra. Also thinking about doing the lighting mod like the one shown by DennisAZ.

#48 5 years ago

Actually, I think clear was on the early machines and black came later. I'm sure mine was an original as the display on my backboard does not rotate the lights on the wheel. The flames on the distance shuttles flash as does the Williams logo. I would be interested in one as mine has a crack which is why I made a SS ramp protector for the right side.

If I do produce a mod like yours or similar to yours....you will get a discount!

Is TimeTraveler going to do this or is he out and Freeplay40 is in now? I'm still interested. I'd like it to match my original black.
