I started putting LED's in the underside of my game today. I had used comet 2smd frosted. The left side target inserts were too much when blinking though. So I ordered some 1 SMD bulbs to put in there. In my short play test everything else looks pretty good so far. I went ahead and put red, white, and blue in the USA lanes up top and those look great.

Quoted from ajfclark:

I've found that LED flashers are sentitive to the field collapse on some of the coils (e.g. flippers) and tend to light briefly. Anyone else seen this? Is there a good fix other than leaving a few incandescent #89s in to absorb the energy?

I have not yet replaced any of the flashers or topside lights. I will give it a shot though and post some feedback once I get to to a teardown and cleanup my game. Hopefully that will be in the next week or two depending on which game I tackle first. My Space station plays great just needs shopped. I have a doctor who that will hopefully be playing when my mpu gets here.

Anybody know where to get some plastics? The primary one I am after is the lower right by the shooter lane (don't have the part number handy at the moment). I would consider a whole set depending on the price.

I have a full new set I never busted into. I may be willing to part with it. Not sure I want to just sell that one piece, though.

Has anyone got the replacement ROMs for their Space Station? I am getting ROMs for my Roadshow and thinking about getting one for my Space Station but hoping someone can provide feedback if its worth it and how it effects gameplay and enjoyment of the machine.
Game Version L-5
U26 : Checksum: 5194
U27 : Checksum: 983E
Sound Version L-1
U4 : Checksum: 07B0
Speech Version L-1
U19 : Checksum: DCAF
U21 : Checksum: A754
U22 : Checksum: FB4C

Hey brother, I would recommend you double check what ROMs you actually have in your game right now. I haven't done exhaustive research but it looks like those are the only ROMs out there. If you do have something else it might be unique.

Anyone know a good source of the GI relay boards? I have one that is not good and was hacked in the past and the other is semi functional. Marco's is out. I emailed great plains, but haven't heard back. A few other websites showed out of stock as well.

Call Todd Tuckey at TNT Amusenents

Thanks, I will try them.

Todd said he was looking for a source on these as well. Fingers crossed something pops up.

Might have 1 spare if you still need it. C-11998-1?
Am not in the US though.

I will send you a message. Thanks!

The black mirror blades make sense for the darkness of space! I dig it man.

Big progress today thanks to yyyyyikes

He was very kind and sent me a relay to help me get my GI back up.

Warm white comet 2smd and green 2smd are in the GI and the condition green. I swapped out the orange domes with red. The plastics are NOS courtesy of ChrisPINk25

I have a couple other things to sort out. Remote battery holder and a couple of the bulbs in the backboard.

Doh! Man I have been there. Fix up a thing or two and then another thing pops up.

I got more done today on mine. Put in the remote battery holder. I finished with LED's in the backbox (minus 906 flashers).
I have a bit of speaker hum. I unscrewed the sound board to break contact with the backbox which significantly reduced the hum. There most be something with the ground there. The braids and wires all look pretty good. I hear this is fairly common. I attempted to put a taped washer on each of the 4 points, but the hum came right back. I will probably try to grab some plastic/nylon type washers and see if that does it.

I also have a tilt bob to put in as it was missing when I got the game. Hopefully can print up some instruction cards as well.

Of course I played 10-15 games on it as well. Having a good time playing it again.

I put nylon washers on both sides of the sound board for each of the four screws. This helped with the hum. It is not gone, but is much quieter.

Just joined the club! No g.i. lights and only half of the backbox lights so i have to troubleshoot that. Excited though!

Congrats! Connectors are a good place to start. Those relays under the playfield are what fixed up my game.

Quoted from Completist:

You said you had them working for a bit. The pins could of lost tension or oxidized making for a poor connection. Might be worth repinning and upgrading to a Molex connector.
I would also pull the interconnect board and see if you have any cracked or cold solder joints on the headers.

Good advice here. Also would do that on the relay boards. I managed to get one back to life with reflow on the board and then putting on a new connector.
