Here we go, space station upper PF mold being build in my shop now!
This will be a PPS item when ready. PPS will also be doing the decals.

That’s a thing of beauty, I know a lot of space station owners are going to be thrilled to have an opportunity to purchase that piece

#3154 3 years ago

I feel like I'm always asking dumb questions of this thread, but you've all been so helpful...here's another (hopefully simple to answer) question...

I recently completely re-did my pop bumper assemblies, brand new switch stacks and plastics and everything, including lamp wiring. I took pictures throughout, replaced everything exactly how it had been.

But unfortunately, now the lamps don't light. I thought maybe it was because I put in LEDs, but I tried with incandescents, and still, nothing. I can't find anything in the manual about what the wiring should be for these lamps.

Any advice on how to diagnose this, to then fix it?

F**K YEAH!!! ... Been waiting and hoping for this for a couple of years now since I got my game.... it's prodominant issue, cracked up and glued together upper playfield!

Please hopefully it is the OG Blue, and not any other colour/transparency than the standard!?

#3156 3 years ago

Yes will be the trans blue as close of match as we can get

#3157 3 years ago

That will be awesome!!! I hate the black one that’s on my game

reconsider59 are all the wires underneath soldered?

#3159 3 years ago
Quoted from ChrisPINk25:

reconsider59 are all the wires underneath soldered?

I thought I wasn't a total n00b at this point, but it seems yes, I am indeed still pretty stupid about this stuff.

Thanks @chrispink25, but it turned out it was an even simpler solution. I thought maybe I had accidentally burned or disconnected something while fixing the switch stacks for the pops, so I followed the lines back to the board. Of course, one of them goes to one of the fuses on the inside of the back-box. I didn't realize there was a fuse for this set of lights! Fuse looked good, but I checked it, and sure enough: dead.

Lights are back on!

Where did you find enough solid unobtanium to forge this masterpiece?

#3162 3 years ago

It’s solid hunks of mold grade aluminum. Very hard and polishes to nice finishes. This is what we do, injection molds.

doing some polishing and getting close to a test shot.
this one wont have rivets on the switch plates. they will use a flush mount vee head screw. so you would drill your rivets off
your old switch plate mounts and re attach with screws and nuts either provided or a ace hardware deal.. i will post the
fastener details when i get the first sample and test in my machine

#3170 3 years ago

Looking to be done 12/18 to 12/21. Then will be to get a test scheduled then assemble and test a part in my game. Production run to follow.

I don't need one, but that is awesome!

#3174 3 years ago

Now is your chance to chime in with any color suggestions.
Black was the proto color but unless demand we won’t run this
Trans blue was the production color
We can run some clear
Any thing else?

#3175 3 years ago

Sign me up for a blue. My SS is being restored now!

#3176 3 years ago

I like the blue

#3177 3 years ago

Again, these parts will be available directly through the PPS website, as soon as they
Are done I will post.

Has anyone done full LED flashers in their game(including the backbox)? I'm doing mine right now and have some issues with some lightly illuminating. I've done the mod for coils 3,4,6 and 7 for Williams System 11 games(I did this on a Jokerz and it worked fine), but looks like more might have to be done for this game due to the amount of flashers it has.

I stuck with incandecent for flashers. LED's end up too hard and blinding.

Filaments don't lite and dim so instantly, and not so blinding either. I actually reversed LED flashers on games after doing it since it seemed a bit too much. Prefered the softer action.

People have different preferences though of course, but that was my experience.

Can all agree that the Green GI is where LEDs really come into their own?

LOL....so...I had this game for YEARS, and half the GI didn't work, and if the green worked I have no idea because it was so dim you couldn't see it. Then I swapped to SMD2 (I think..higher than I used for whites) and WOW...when alert hits, it's like a swimming pool of liquid green. It's so hard to describe until you see it. I had considered selling it until I did that.

I often miss the speech because I'm running to the lightswitch in the room and back. It's so good.

#3188 3 years ago

Here it is. Fit and function is perfect.
Requires 6 #4-40 x 3/8 countersunk head screws and lock nuts. We did this rather than the rivets. Fasteners sit flush with mini PF. Decals from PPS and optional wire harness retainer self sticky to bottom

pin-pimp will it be sold with all the required hardware and decals?

#3191 3 years ago

I’m guessing with the decals, I can ask Rick about the hardware. Pretty cheap and easy to get at any hardware store. Was $1.20 for the screws and nuts. Beats trying to rivet the switch plates on. Was a 10-15 minute harness and swap from old to new.

#3192 3 years ago

Yes, we will sell with decals and the screws ...

#3193 3 years ago

Even better! The first 30 ish sample parts will be send to PPS in a week or so followed by a production run. Fix up all those games!

Ok! The Space Station Mini-Playfield / Ramp is now available - we have a small amount now and will get more in January with a larger run. Thanks to pin-pimp these are outstanding and an expensive endeavor but clearly needed. The product initially will be the BLUE Transparent ramp with Decals and Hardware. You have a choice of either BLACK HEX countersunk screws -or- STAINLESS Philips countersunk screws which will fit nicely so no riveting of the lane guide switch hardware to get things back together. Thanks for your patience, but happy to take this unobtanium product off the list ...

Started having an intermittent issue where green alert the right lock does not always eject the ball at start. Even had a time that the right lock while already locked kept the 2nd ball and locked again.

The ball does eject on ball search, or if you drain the other 2 balls, and it does know when a ball is there. It doesn't happen all the time, but does seem to be more frequent lately.

My first thought is to check the switch in the lock and the one on the ramp that feeds the lock.

Do you mean at the start of multiball it doesn't always eject? So you've locked left and right and hit one of the Release shots but the right doesn't eject?

Thanks to all involved to get this one done. Bought a $200 space station years ago I can finally resurrect.
