Quoted from kklank:

1. Switches 52 and 53 in switch test are coming up. I think these are the two optos underneath the space station. I took the space station off and I cleaned or dusted the optos but that didn't seem to do anything? What else do you do to optos?

As Swainer80 says, 52 and 53 are the optos under the station that tell the machine the position of the space station. How does the game behave during play? Does the station rotate and stop in the appropriate places? I'm not with my game but from memory, when the station is in either "home" position, neither 52 or 53 should be closed. If the station behaves itself during play, it may be that you did a coil test first, which would've rotated the station off "home". If it doesn't behave itself, further investigation is needed. One of the first things I'd check is that the other switches in that column register. It seem to be fairly common for the column to fail as it includes lane change switches stacked on the flipper EOS.

I'm a brand new member (yay) - can anyone post the dimensions of the backglass? Mine is broken, I have a translite and want to get a piece of glass cut.
Thanks!

Some lazy day fiddling around. Added flipper button lighting. Blue for normal mode and green (obviously) for condition green. Tied it to both GI strings and came out looking nifty and sharp.

Hello guys!
Picked up my space station about 2 years ago, unfortunately it turned out in a really poor condition, especially the playfield.
After 2 years on hold, and some googeling for spareparts. I finally feels like I got the time and inspiration to start with the renovation.

But the biggest problem is the lack of playfields and other spare parts. I think I have searched every website I can find. I have made som inquiries in diffrent Facebook forums aswell, without any results. I have already been cheated out som money in a desperat attemp to buy a playfield. So, my last hope is with you guys. Anyone haveing a playfield for sale? The condition doesnt need to be perfect, but at least better than mine.

It would really have feldt great to save this piece for the future.

Pinball brother, quite a bit of PF wear considering they came with factory mylar, maybe check with CPR to see if they are willing to do a run of them for a reasonable cost...not sure who is doing an upper PF but just a thought ...keep us in the loop.

#2608 5 years ago

That upper playfield doesn't look crack. It'll just take some time with some novus 2 to get the ground in dirt out.

#2609 5 years ago

I believe I read somewhere that this title might be the next one for that new company doing the playfield overlays ... of course a new playfield preferred but overlay IF they make it could be an option.... & the ramp is available from Freeplay40

I found one too a couple years ago, payed through the nose for it too. I wouldn't sell mine for under 1k.

I just joined the club! But havent great great fame play yet. It feels like my flippers are super weak. I can never make it up the right ramp, ever. So i changed the flipper coils to FL 1130 (i think) and it didnt make any difference. I tried searching for similar problems but couldnt find any. Anyone elae run into this issue.

Your flippers are definitely a problem. Did you check voltages? Maybe EOS or cabinet switches are dirty/tarnished? Plungers moving freely?

#2614 5 years ago

Ya plungers look and feel like new, so do the switches. But inwill take another look. I never looked at the cabinet switches.... would that be a culprit?

#2615 5 years ago

Have you checked the switch gaps. On this one in particular if the gaps aren't correct they flip pretty weak.

#2616 5 years ago

The EOS gaps? Yah they seem to be fine. I am thinking of taking 3-4 windings off that coil

So i
replaced the coil with new sleeve
Replaced the EOS
Replaced the Flipper switch on the cabinet
Replaced the coil stop

And it is still week

Why didn't you replace the plunger and coil stop? Those plungers are not new. I guarantee there is play in the plunger and all the energy isn't transferring to the flipper bat. Also, since you have it apart, also helps to replace the flipper bushing.

#2620 5 years ago

toasterman04 that doesn't look correct. EOS should be open when flipper is at rest. Then closed, when coil fires. The way it looks, your weak flipper is because EOS is always active

#2621 5 years ago

sorry, I see the gap now.. Maybe gap EOS a little more?

#2622 5 years ago

Ok .... i will change it. Althou both flippers seem weak. And when i do all these changes to the left flipper it doesnt feel different at all. I did change the coil stop, just not the plunger

#2623 5 years ago

One more thought. I had some weak flippers on my F14. Turned out one diode on the coil was disconnected. After I reconnected diode, all good.

Um no. The switches are correctly gapped in the photo.

#2625 5 years ago

yeah kermit24 I didn't see it at first.

The last switch isn't the EOS. The first one is.

#2627 5 years ago

He diode is connected.... but Maybe the diode could be bad? After i change the plunger i will check the diode

#2628 5 years ago

Well there ya go.... dont do anything half way.... evenything looked clean and was friction free... so i never changed the plunger... i changed pretty much everything else. But once i changed the plunger i can just make it up that ramp..... FINALLY

#2629 5 years ago

Ok so after rhe one ball i would hit the ramp numerous times it still just gets to the top and then comes back... oh man frustrating.

Thanks for everyones help thou.... i guess i will just picking away at it

#2630 5 years ago

Just out of curiosity, is it hitting that left screw and washer at the bottom of the ramp? That would slow it down, you need to replace that with a flush screw.

#2631 5 years ago

Nope those screws are flush

Here is what i did and it seemed to help... so much thst i am gonna do it to the other side too.
I chanfed the coil to a FL -11629 and i also cut 2’ of winding off.... seemed to do the trick

Any time I rebuild flippers I add the upgrade if needed. This is F-14 but I did Space Station the same way following
vid1900 thread.
It might be you need to replace the bushing as well.

BobLangelius Wow, thats heavily. I have no clue of what its worth. My budget is somwhere between 3-400$, I guess your PF is worth more than that? A complete machine in decently condition here in Sweden goes for around 1000$

Great,

Not only the gap is important (well, it's related), but the timing of opening. If the EOS is opening too early the flipper also looses power. I see that the gap of your EOS is pretty big. Maybe you can gain some extra oompf there?

That looks sweet. They probably want more for it than I would pay, but very cool.
