Actually it looks like PPS is making these now (comes with the holographic logo):

I'd love to know whether these are the same ones Classic Arcades makes.

I just played this machine for the first time at a fellow Pinsider's house. This game is GREAT! Definitely on my short list, next to Taxi and Sorcerer.

Yup fun game but they don't come up very often so you might be waiting a loooong time.

Space Station makes a great temp trade. 3 months without it will make you realize why it's a keeper.
Someone buy and use this populated playfield on Ann Arbor CL before he turns it into a coffee table...........
Actually he's had this listed on and off for quite a long time now. Looks like pretty much everything is there.
Ha! I bought a populated playfield (granted, not as nice) for $100 ten years ago. Very handy to have a complete set of spare parts and boards.

wtf is going on there... the cab looks great too.

Based on his older CL ads, the other Space Station was a complete game that is now sold. The playfield was separate from the complete game.
Quoted from Nelly:Hey guys, I added a couple of astronaut figures and a Discovery Space Shuttle to my Space Station. I moved the flasher from where the shuttle is sitting to inside the shuttle. I think it turned out pretty nice. What do you guys think?

That looks pretty cool. Maybe you could have a satelite being launched from the orbiter and have the flasher in it.
Quoted from Ronnie1114:Just picked one up for a cool grand. Right down the street too. Time to get cleaning!
good price, hope it's in good shape.

The shuttle actually came with a satellite that mounts to an arm that sticks out of the bay doors. Only reason I didn't use it was because the PF glass would hit it. If it had fit though, it would have been cool to light it up. However, it's too small to house a flasher. I'd have to rig an LED in it.

I see.

Yes to the astronauts - very cool. No to the shuttle, but that's just me.

That Astronaut will look great next to that transparent blue ramp I have waiting for you....
Quoted from MustangPaul:good price, hope it's in good shape.
Hope so too, first game that has shown up where I live in ages.
Quoted from swampfire:I'm having a problem with Stop and Score, and I wonder if it's a software bug. Sometimes the Stop and Score is active (annoying beep, flashing insert), but the drop target is still up. I especially see it after a multiball. Has anyone else seen this problem?
I'm re-posting this question, since we're playing this game in league next week. It doesn't affect the player's score, but it's really annoying to hear the "hurry up" beeps when you can't shoot the ramp (because the target is up). I've rebuilt the drop target with new optos; it still happens. Software bug or...?

I see this same thing swampfire, always after multiball too.
Brian.
Thanks, that makes me feel much better about it. I can say "it is what it is" and take that off my task list.
Speaking of possible software bugs. Sometimes when I'm due an extra ball, the ball does not appear. The score increases by increments of 1000 about once every second. After some time, I give up and start a new game. Any one else have this issue or know of a solution? It does not happen very frequently and I can not generate it on demand.

Sounds like a board problem but how to find it is beyond me.

I'd check the trough switches.

("Gravity" reference - best part of the movie IMHO)
Quoted from swampfire:I'm working on a little "Sandra Bullock in a fetal position in her undies" mod.
Quoted from MustangPaul:Looks like they kind of wiggle around when you play. Cool.
I used a little hot glue in the joints and connectors (hot glue not visible) and it stabilized them and kept the one on the left from drooping onto the playfield every once in a while. you have to hit a really solid shot close to them for them to wiggle a little bit, but them being on there makes for a really cool effect, and sparks some conversation.
Quoted from MustangPaul:What is the little round thing in front of them?
We tried to design the mpu from the picture on the translite, I believe it is a tool

Sounds like a trough switch that's flaky or has a poor connection, and maybe some other switch stuck closed giving the 1000 points.
Ok so all 5 of my backboard flashers keep burning out after a minute or so. Incands blow and LED's fry and smoke. Do I need different bulbs like 1250's or something?

I am sure these are 24v dude! Not 6.5v or 12v
Shoot me if I am wrong. Got a manual?

Yep. 28v 1251's. Blew up several 6v bulbs myself.
Hello fans! I love this game! I think it has the coolest match feature of all alphanumeric machines.
Bought mine 8 years ago. Had minor problems, some of the drop targets were not working, and the station could not find its position. The two upper displays were dead. There was a constant burning smell coming from the game, while the machine was on.
The previous owner told me, that this SS was rescued from a basement, where water level almost reached the cabinet.
The 3-bank drop target had some failed optos, and there was a dead transistor on the PCB under the station.
The burning smell was challenging, but finally i found that the fuse holder on the right side of the backbox is the key.
Changed it to another one - smelling got away
Later, I decided to clearcoat the playfield. While removing mylar, most of the insert graphics were injured. I had a borrowed playfield from which i could scan the inserts. A friend of mine did the rest of the job, polished the inserts (looks better than factory), repainted the yellowed white areas under the plastics.
I decided to put cold white 4 SMD 3528 LEDs into the playfield GI. The green GI circuit has simple green LEDs.
Quoted from Rec:There was a constant burning smell coming from the game, while the machine was on.
Yikes! Glad you fixed that.
Came out really nice. Congrats on your work!
Thanks! Another pimping: I bought a pair of Blaupunkt speakers, which have blue coloured membranes. The speakers will be lit from behind. I made several tests with different bulbs and LEDs, but didn't find the perfect configuration yet

Super nice job especially with the clear on the pf. have you seen the pictures in an earlier post of my game with the spot lights on it, really lights up the pf. I also just added Comets red pop cap rings on mine, red top leds with white leds on the underside. This game is a keeper for me.

VERY nice.
You guys are making great mods
Here are pictures of the first try. Idea was not mine, I saw it on a german forum.
Blaupunkt AL130 speakers with spacers, and 1 bulb lightning/speaker.
Later I changed the speakers to Blaupunkt IC118s, because the AL130 sound was not so good.
Just to keep this forum alive, I found some photos from the renewal days.
My friend recommended to repaint the white areas, and I'm glad that I said yes.
He did a very good job. The only mistake was that there was a little G letter next to every socket in the green GI circuit, and they were also painted But it took an extra 2-5 minute job to find them
He also polished the inserts, looks better than factory IMHO.
