Just bought a Williams Space Shuttle. It's not in terrible shape, the cabinet and backglass are nice, but the playfield is pretty rough. It had a thick layer of dust on it, so I wasn't sure I believed the previous owner when they said they'd played it recently, but I did believe them when they assured me that they had never opened the machine.

I'm going to start with cleaning, new rubbers and fixing things like the center drop target. I'll probably need to rebuild the flipper assembly. Later on I'm hoping to replace the ramp, the space shuttle and finally install a hard top on the playfield.

So far I've replaced a fuse and the batteries. At first it wasn't going in to attract mode, but suddenly it started working. Not sure if it's something I did or if it's going to come back and haunt me.

I dig mine, hopefully your ramp is still useable. Good candidate for a hardtop.

Quick update: The hardtop has arrived. I replaced the broken coil stop on the center target, but I found out that the reset plate is also snapped off. I replaced some of the rubbers and plastics so that the game can be played. ptolemy suggested I do bridge rectifier mod so that my machine doesn't light on fire. So I've ordered parts and will be setting up a rotisserie to start on the playfield. In the meantime, I bought nice key fob for my machine.

A basic game that really keeps you going back for more.

Another small update: The game is fully playable now, with the center target working. From the manual, it looks like the part I needed was B-9744 Reset Fgr Sub-Assy, but I couldn't find that so I ordered A-11388-2 reset plunger assembly instead. It doesn't sit exactly the same (The middle section is a little shorter), but it seems to be working fine. Maybe I'll try 01-6983 if this doesn't work out. To get it on tight I temporary put some gaffers tape on the rod and held it in place with vice grips. I also did the bridge rectifier fuse mod.

It's definitely much more fun to play with that center target working.
