no cracking when I popped them out. Use a hairdryer.. heat gun might be overkill. I just used crazy glue gel to seal them back in. I ended up touching up the entire pf though and then clearcoating it with polyurethane. Couldnt tell you how it's doing three years later as I sold it.. but the guy I sold it to won't sell it back to me so I'm guessing it's okay.
