So I'm doing my first flipper rebuild (left side). Got my Vid's guide out, following all the instructions... labeled all my wires, but forgot to label the lugs on the coil. Now I've got everything back together but I must have reconnected my wires wrong. I've tried several configs now and I just keep blowing the flipper fuse (and the left flipper doesn't work) and now I'm completely lost.
Would someone be able to take a pic of the left flipper on underside of their playfield so I can figure out what I am messing up... or just let me know which wires should be hooked up to which lugs?
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Can you compare it to the right side? Notice which lugs of the coil has the heavy winding vs the light. Wire the left accordingly, including the EOS switch.

At this point I am at a loss... I'm sure I have it wired right now, but all I get is a big arc on the flipper button switch and no action on the left flipper. I'm sure if I held the button down for more than a second I would just blow another fuse.
Thoughts?

Compare your new and old coils to make shure the band on the diode is the same way.

Looks like the band on the diode is always towards the low power coil winding.
Would blowing the diode on the coil cause this? So frustrated because I thought this would be fairly cut and dried and now I just can't get the flipper working again.

Bumping... I'm hoping someone has run in to this before.

Yes, this is correct.

Lift one leg of the diode and check if it's good.

I'm going to do this, I just found an article elsewhere saying that a blown diode on the coil can cause the flipper fuse to blow every time the flipper is activated which seems to be where I am at now. I'm guessing I blew the diode on both the old and new coil when I had them hooked up wrong? Both coils react the same way when installed now (plus the diode on the original coil finally snapped when I was messing with it last night, so no going back there
Going through the manual to see if I can find out what diode I need exactly if that is what I need to replace.

Oh well... once again this has been a learning experience, which is ultimately good.

The popular diode that I use is: 1N4004.

Thanks! I am not seeing any reference to it in the manual. Looks like my local Radio Shack has those in stock so I will give it a try today.

get ten, they're cheap and used alot in these games.

If that diode isn't your problem I had a bridge rectifier crap out on the flipper board on my f-14, you could check that next.

Thanks, something else I can run down.

Thanks Vid, I knew you had created that pic somewhere, but couldn't find it last night. If only I had seen that first, I could have avoided my initial screw ups.

actually, on the forum main page about half way down is a compilation of Vid's guides in pdf, SAVE them all, as they are an invaluable source of knowledge.

I did grab the PDF's... that's what I was using. I swear to god that pic is not in the PDF... or I'm a moron, which is equally possible

um....it's in there lol.

See... I told you that was a distinct possibility!

Fixed! Replacing the diode worked, so I must have smoked it since it was a new coil form Pinball Life. I changed the diode on my original coil too, so now I will have a good spare.

Thanks Wolf, crlush and Vid for all your help. Now I've got another pinball maintenance job under my belt and should be able to tackle it much more easily next time.

Funny you should say that... Not until later when I had already run in to issues did I refer back to my phone to see that I did take a pic of the hanging coil before I desoldered all the wires.

Thought I was going to be good because I labeled all my wires before I took them off, but then realized left and right lugs are relative to which way you spin it around... Doh!

Lesson learned.
