Quoted from KSUWildcatFan:That's looking outstanding. You'll love how the hardtop plays, too!
Really looking forward to it, that mirror like finish and it's so quiet just rolling a ball casually across the play field versus the old sounds like my balls crossing railroad tracks when it's rolling over inserts, can't wait.
There's something to be said for the ORIGINAL sound of the ball rolling around...but at this point that's almost unheard of given the condition of the wood surfaces after all this time. The hardtop is like glass, and it plays FAST. I've got my SS jacked way up on slope in addition to the hardtop because I'm a glutton for punishment..and punishment she delivers. Makes me grateful just to crack 1M with it set up like this, most of the time..lol
Quoted from iamdrunker:Arrived today. Looks great.[quoted image]
ramp look sweet, nice that it comes with the flap.
Quoted from Apinjunkie:So close...
I love those clear pop bodies. I bought them for mine as well. I'm sure they will look great when I eventually get around to installing the hardtop. Where did you find the clear skirts? I don't think my supplier has those.
That looks freaking spiffy. You're almost there! Feeling similar vibes on my high speed.. Waiting for the last few parts to get here lol

Zitt at pinball-mods.com has the clear pops and skirts and targets.
20200312_103655 (resized).jpg I couldn't find the pop bumper base available in clear so I went with a white and then painted it silver before the install.

Yeah he is the only one in the US that sells the clear and clear colored ones.
Quoted from KSUWildcatFan:I'm waiting on stuff from him for my high speed.. And F14, maybe. I bought some of those target blades but looking at it now, it looks like a huge PITA to swap them as everything is riveted together
The rivets are a bear, but I followed vids guide that was posted on zitts thread, made short work of it(not true, better part of an afternoon).
Quoted from KSUWildcatFan:Did you replace just the faces or the entire leaf itself?
Since the targets are already attached to the Leafs , and I have never removed a rivet before ,I thought I would do less damage by replacing the leaf instead of the face. Plus I figured easier to run screws through the leaf switches then to have to re rivet the target face.

Don't suppose you documented what you did? I actually had vid's guide pulled up at one point but didn't he only address swapping the faces?

Not really, I took a few pictures along the way. I just followed that same guide has it referred to removing the rivets and that technique worked just fine. One thing I did find was that taping the three drop targets together while I had them out of the machine worked for me as I'm not a big fan of having to solder any more than I have to. Another take away from that thread was to install a piece of foam behind the target, I used a small piece of a can koozie worked perfect.

That looks amazing, love the clear pops and stand up targets
Add me to the crew, Picked this up last week, I have been looking for a decent Space Shuttle for a few years.
Spent the weekend dialing it in, replaced worn flipper buttons, issue with lane change not working fixed itself after I adjust the flipper bat position(to low)
Now just trying to get rid of the cigarette smoke smell, and speaker buzz
Loving the game so far
IMG_20200316_185128 (resized).jpgWelcome aboard, that speaker Buzz is probably just,"a shuttle thing". Try tightening the screws on your main board
To eliminate the speaker buzz you may also want to check the grounding on the MPU.
Ed Cheung documented this on his site: Search for "Grounding the CPU board"

Sexy is right. In fact, if the coin slot was just a little bit bigger...seriously,l could see one of these in my shuttle's future. For now I'll have to settle for a set of those entrance flaps. Great job on the install, a real eye catcher.
The clear ramp is definitely worth grabbing. I'd for sure keep a finger on the pulse for how much inventory is left, if Larry ends up not doing a second run. I really didn't want to buy right now but there was NO WAY I wasn't grabbing one of these, lol
Quoted from mof:wow! where did that come from?

Have to ask specifically for clear though. No idea how many are left.
I requested a clear to dye blue but received a black one. No worries. My fault for not emailing from my Pay Pal address. Just glad to have a replacement!

Aw man! I bet he'd get you sorted out if you contact him!

I'm good. Like I said, no worries.

Both ramps are great, and far better than having a chewed up original, that's for sure!
Soooooo...close. well it's been moved off the rotisserie and back into the cabinet, have worked through most all the bugs, no real surprises for the most part. I still have to do some ramp work before I get that installed, ( waiting on a couple of the posts that hold the ramp in place and some flaps ,will improvise for now)rewire my shuttle, and repaint some of my playfield glass. It's been nearly six weeks, and it's time to get the balls rolling.

Yes yes yes yes!
My high speed is sitting on my dining room table, waiting for my Marco order so I can undo all the work I did on pops, one by one, and hope to God I can successfully solder new lamp leads in. I'm so ready to be done with it. And so irritated with myself for not building a damn rotisserie.
Shuttle and ramp complete. I've tried a number of different lighting options in the shuttle over the last few months, had to clean out the excess and make the whole thing more accessible to service. It has a couple of red comet LED strips in the fuselage and nose.Comet star post light White and dimmer switch for the cockpit as well as a six LED white pad for the thrusters. The thrusters are tied into the thruster flickers in the backglass, the other lights are controlled by the GI.my machine has a reverse painted Playfield glass that needs to be touched up and reworked, dig out my topper ,reinstall that and it will be ready for liftoff.

Thanks, this is been a hoot. I'll probably have some video of the game play in a couple of days. still got a few things to tweak yet.
Just want to share a little trick/tip with the crew.. When I first brought my SS home from Chicago it didn’t boot and gave me an error code “1”, which was weird because it was working before I left. Same thing happened to me conveniently the other day when I was swapping the ramp from Starship Fantasy. Both times I was able to resolve the issue by pulling the game roms and booting the machine, which then gave me an error code “7”. Once I put the roms back in and rebooted I was able to clear the error and everything was back to normal. My pin mentor FlipnFargo suggested it may be time to replace the ram, but that’s a task for another day. Hope this helps someone temporarily revive their machine
Quoted from KSUWildcatFan:Good tip.. You finish high speed yet? Lol
Absolutely I have. Very close

Okay, the hardtop rocks, love the new surface, actually played a few games on it last night. A few minor issues to work out, but it's close. I still need to rework the paint on the playfield glass and add the topper. Here's a couple of pics of my not ready for pictures shuttle.
20200320_144412 (resized).jpg20200320_135011 (resized).jpg20200320_195911 (resized).jpgLooks great! I'm personally not a fan of the art on the glass (I feel like it cuts down on the original design) but to each their own--ultimately it's about what makes YOU happy.
Nice work man!
Gave mine some 'Murika colors, at least for now. Not sure if I'll keep it or not tbh. I didn't feel like all three with cool white looked as good with the rest of the PF now warm white. If I don't stick with this I'll probably just go with warm white x3. Kinda digging the Murika homage, I dunno.

That's a cool look, I like the red white blue color scheme in the pops. That clear ramp is starting to grow on you isn't.

Haha, yeah, a small splash of color is nice. I dig it.
I loooooove the clear ramp. Very neat look to it imo
