UPDATE:
I super glued the wing with gel super glue overnight and found a mirror clip to give it additional support fingers crossed... I got lucky and found a mirror hanging clip that fit perfectly over the wing. The plastic mirror clip goes right over the cracked area and supports the front to the back Wing relieving stress on the crack. BONUS... the mirror hanging clip is clear plastic and beveled LOL. After playing only two games the last pic shows the nose cone has paint chipped on it now the ball is still getting airborne and it could be because of my ramp protector and that the screws are not countersunk. I also wonder if it could be hitting the drop Target and getting airborne has anyone else had problems with hitting the ball hitting the nose cone? What did you do to remedy the problem?

Mine was doing the same thing had to make a thin piece of plastic shim stock about .015 thick and glue it on top of drop target. the drop is probably sitting to low. Also check to see if there is an adjustment screw under the drop mech might not have one I do not remember.

The ramp protector looks nice, but if those screws are not flush. They may chew up your ball, everytime your ball passes over one. It'll create a little Nick in the ball that eventually will be like sandpaper on your play field and wear the play field art prematurely.

Yes I have definitely considered this as a problem I need to find some screws that will lay flat before I Nick the balls up you are very correct sir
Well, I did it. . Ordered a hardtop on Friday for my shuttle. , FedEx says it'll be here tomorrow. . Over the weekend I built a rotisserie. , and started the top side tear down today.
I'm on the hunt to join this exclusive club. If anyone is planning on selling theirs and bringing it to Pinbrew, Ohio in April, let me know!
Quoted from Apinjunkie:Life is good![quoted image][quoted image]
What are the items on the left of the new playfield? Do they come with the new hardtop?
Quoted from iamdrunker:What are the items on the left of the new playfield? Do they come with the new hardtop?
No the stuff off to the left did not come with hardtop, I've been accumulating over the last week or so. Clear pop bumper skirts and bodies, some blue inserts and some new lollipop targets, also blue. Thought while I had the table on the rotisserie It gives me an opportunity to upgrade a few things that have been," want to do's" for a long time.
I love love love clear pops on this game. I need to resolve an issue with the bulb socket on one of them on mine (it likes to cut in and out at times) but I think the clear caps and cool white LEDs looks fantastic.

I had the same issue with my pop bumpers. No matter how much I fiddled with the sockets on the inside, the bulbs would eventually work themselves loose, drove me nuts. It was suggested to me to swap them out with a wedge style socket if I ever reworked the pop bumpers. Last year, however, I replaced the single bulbs with one of those pop bumper clusters from comet, the additional wiring creates just enough tension to hold them in place and have never had to adjust them since installing.
20200211_100859 (resized).jpgAll my Williams machines have a sagging backbox that bugs the sh!@ out of me. This was my 1-1/4" angle fix on the Space Shuttle, I'm sure there is other ways posted here over the years. I hope/haven't tried to lay the box down to see the clearance needed to fully drop it to the playfield. That could be a issue.

I don't think they'll be an issue with clearance, besides when the game looks that nice, you don't want to fold it up anyway. Really like what you did with the red white and blue lighting scheme.
Made some progress over the last week however real life,( that is life that doesn't involve pinball) and weather have kept me out of the shop more than I would have liked. I did finish tearing down the top side and started sanding last night . After closer inspection the pops are going to need a lot more of a rebuild than I originally anticipated, parts are on order though. So far no major surprises, this has been fun.

I'm still fighting the shooter lane on my high speed, weeks later. Don't feel bad. Looking good
Hello crew, On my Firepower the high score to date is a high score that someone achieved while playing a game, That score cycles on and off while in attract mode. seems normal. On Shuttle, If I'm reading the manual correctly, and I tried repeatedly, appears that the default high score to date of 4,500,000. is what you have to beat in order to achieve the new high score. Cant I tell the game to start the high game to date at 0,000,000 and let the player(s) make the high score to date as they play? That 4,500,000 is damn tough to get on 3 balls.
Quoted from iamdrunker:Cant I tell the game to start the high game to date at 0,000,000 and let the player(s) make the high score to date as played.
You can tell it that, but it's not going to listen.
You can set the scores, but I'm not sure you can do 0. I set mine at like 200k-600k at one point because 4.5mil is indeed DAMN hard. I left the scores all default after getting my boards back though.
I could use some recommendations on next steps. My displays dropped with f1 blowing. I went ahead and rebuilt the HV section of the power supply then plugged the display back in without taking voltage measurements.
Shorted the score display on the display board pretty bad when turning it on.
I’m not sure if it caused it but in diagnosing the HV portion of the power board I found I’m getting -132v instead of the proper -100.
I also suspect I’ve got bad glass but I’m not sure how to test it without the display board running.
My hope is to fix the power board before replacing the display board but I’m stumped on what went bad.
This is what I’ve got going on the system 9 power board: marked up with voltages and transistor model #s
You can also see what happened to the display board
Update: installed a new Q3 transistor and voltages came into spec.
Made the mistake of plugging the display board in and fried my Q1 transistor.
I’m worried that the fried display board is a result of a blown numeric glass.
I couldn’t find anything about testing them.
Any recommendations on how to identify faulty numeric displays?
Hey Guys! New to the club! I keep adding new parts to my space shuttle and the one thing it really needs is a new ramp. Anybody out there selling one? Why aren't they making those anymore?
Thanks,
Joe

Slowly but surely, a little more progress. Have finished the sanding, swapped replaced and buffed all of the inserts. Replaced the old targets with new translucent blue lollipops .(major pita)A few more tweaks and I should be ready to actually install hardtop early next week.
20200226_201027 (resized).jpgApinjunkie before hardtop install your may want to unscrew the targets. Alignment should be based on inserts. The targets got in the way when I was trying to align the hardtop.

I noticed that during the test fitting, will definitely unscrew them before the final install. Thanks for the heads up.
So I was digging through a box of old shuttle parts last night and found this, the old piece of s*** shuttle that used to be in my machine. It's truly hideous, try not to look directly at it . but it got me thinking , there are probably even worse examples of this out there and if you're like me you probably didn't throw yours away , nice to have that comparison piece. Post a pic and let's see who truly does have the ugliest shuttle

Cool thread. Here's mine.
Old shuttle 1 (resized).jpgQuoted from iamdrunker:A fan pull, love it. I bet it gets too wiggling around pretty good when you have that fan on too.
Thanks, It works good. I lucked out and got the C.G. hole at just right angle. Well I thought so anyway.
Stopped by the guy with the "not for sale project Space Shuttle with $800 in it but check back in a year or so" today....still not for sale. Sigh.
I finally dropped the slope back down on mine (I had it jacked up in the back on 1" cinder blocks just for the hell of it) because it kept pissing me off how brutal it was draining. It's pretty floaty now, but much less rage-inducing.
Added over 4 years ago:Found out my drop targets had an issue with the center bracket not allowing out to actually drop.. No wonder the game was suddenly more frustrating than ever. Back up to crazy slope with it
Can anyone help me get this working again?

One step forward two steps back. Decided I couldn't live with a couple of the inserts in the condition they were in. Have ordered the parts, while I'm waiting polished most all the metals and detailed the under side of some of the inserts that weren't replaced.added some paint to the Hubble Space Telescope I've had in the machine for a while now. Hope to get to the hardtop install before the weekend

Quoted from lrosent345:All good things come to those who are patient. If that's not in the bible, it should be. The test ramp for Space Shuttle fits perfectly. I have a few loose ends I need to address but they will go on sale on the website, starship-fantasy.com, Sunday. I have made them in 0.125ABS (black) and 0.125 clear PETG. I'm gonna keep the price at $119 and I'm gonna eat the increased cost of the clear ramps. I may never run the clear ramps again. If you wish to order the clear ramp send me an email, [email protected] after you order the black ramp on the website. I expect to be bombarded with orders so it may take a day or 2 to fill all the orders.

Quoted from KSUWildcatFan:Ooooo bet the clear is really nice. My ramp is perfectly fine, but....
I saw on Starships thread that you pulled the trigger on the clear ramp. Love it or hate it you got to post some pics when it's installed. I'm leaning in that direction, now would be the time as I'm putting in the hardtop, but I'm way over budget on this project as it is.(wife would never allow it) I think the clear ramp will really make the printed plastics over the ramp pop, plus there's a lot of room for a lot of different lighting options underneath that ramp. Good luck, have fun with it.
20200211_131646 (resized).jpgI'm already in way further than I wanted to be on SS, so I figured what the hell. I didn't really want to spend the $2k for mine (hardtopped already) and then had to cough up another $180 to have the boards fixed / bulletproofed, so this puts me right around $2300 with the clear ramp (less whatever recoup I end up getting out of my old ramp)... A bit much for a SS, especially with a so-so cab, but it is what it is.
Quick request please.
Does anyone have a pic of a non hot dog playfield for space shuttle and could you please post it? Thanks.

Ok, thanks. So Non-hotdog playfields have the three circle inserts in the hot dog shape, while the Hotdog playfield just has the hotdog shape insert w/out the three circles?
