Welcome. I hope it's in good shape.
Congrats @dorkinabox!! I am also a new shuttle owner here got her about 2 weeks ago. I got a few matrix issues worked out of it but one has got me stumped at the moment. I am still learning how to read the schematics and test things. I know some but not everything. My issue is when I light the lane change letter A the airlock light lights up and when I change to the U or S it goes out. It also does not light up when the 3 bank drops are down only lights when A is light. Any help would be awesome.

Is it just lighting up or does the gate open also?
Quoted from Pinmasher:Just lighting up everything else is working the gate works as it should
Does the "A" light up when the gate is open?
Congrats @Ive!! Only the lane change flipper turns airlock light on when the "A" is lit I can cycle through "U" "S" no light on airlock as soon as I hit the "A" it lights. no matter if the drops are up or down.
Quoted from Ive:Just had the call, joining the club ! .............. lift off is 0900 hours tomorrow !
Godspeed ... hope the launch doesn't get scrubbed!
Quoted from SkyKing2301:Godspeed ... hope the launch doesn't get scrubbed!
Lift off !
Ok - first question for System 9 gurus ......... this is humming really LOUD in attract mode and in game. The hum increases / decreases with the lights - very much like the classic Data East hum issue.
I'm guessing grounding is a starting point.
Any advice on areas to focus on to get rid of this. I can't live with it !

Welcome.
Quoted from ChrisPINk25:ive I had quite a bit of hum too. Changing all the caps helped a lot.
Thanks.
I have just really tightened up the screws on the boards and replaced a few missing ones. Result !! The noise is greatly reduced. I think it was the MPU board screws that made the difference. It's still there a bit but I can happily live with it sat in attract mode now
OK - been tinkering/testing the new arrival so next question ...
When should the multiball insert light ? I have yet to see it light in game though multiball is working fine. It lights in attract mode and test .

should light when there is one or 2 balls locked and the drop target it down. It tells you to shoot the ramp to start MB.

Thanks. That is what I assumed.
I had a couple more games and it did light during one game, but not in another. So something not right ...I'll have a look at connections etc tomorrow. And yet it lights fine during attract mode.

Are the switches in the saucer recognizing the ball is in them? If not, the game may not know they are in there when you drop the center target. I'd check and see that they register in test consistently with a ball in there.

check for loose connections also. does MB start correctly?

They seem to yes . But good point, I'll double check.

Turned out to be the Drop Target switch - was registering sporadically. If that doesn't register then Multiball insert won't light. I took it off and blasted some contact cleaner in , seems to be behaving now.
Thanks guys.
It's all playing correctly now so I can crack on with setting some high scores

That'll do it. I've had to adjust mine now and again as the force from the target seems to eventually bend the switch down just slightly enough to where it stops registering consistently.
Quoted from MountBrew:Hey guys, deep into the playfield here. Anyone have Hogh Quality scans of the playfield? I’d like to make some waterslide decals to fix the missing paint.
First looking for the top “USA Advanced X Value” then near the pop bumpers.

Wish I could help.

I have my hardtop sitting in a box waiting for install. I can scan the areas you are looking for and send them to you if you can't work with what beatmaster sent you.
Just let me know.

dzorbas thank you for the offer. I appreciate any help.
I’ve circled the areas I’ll be working on. I’ve also got ghosting on the inserts but those may be something I can correct with a clear coat.
Hard top done! Love it! All new parts minus apron targets and metal posts will be doing those soon. Cpr backglass is beautiful I need to trim my speaker panel a hair to drop it down a smidge. Have stencils for the cabinet but waiting for the 5 feet of snow in front of my garage to go away and some nice weather.

Looks fantastic! Great job
Hop to get mine looking close to this
Could someone post a nice close up picture of the wiring for the bell? Or, point me to a diagram of the wiring? Thanks!

Sent you a PM with a link. Here it is in case anyone else needs it. Just took some pictures of a second Space Shuttle I have at home...
Does anyone know what scores 500 points in Space Shuttle? My game always starts player 1 with a generous "free" 500!
Quoted from WeLoveScott:Does anyone know what scores 500 points in Space Shuttle? My game always starts player 1 with a generous "free" 500!
Not off the top of my head, but if you put the game in switch test mode it will easily identify the switch.

The three drop targets by the spinner score 500 points each.
Was there ever a version of Space Shuttle that the shuttle actually moved up and down? I swear I played one where it did unless it was another game.

Seems like you are thinking of the Stern Harley Davidson.
Quoted from snyper2099:Seems like you are thinking of the Stern Harley Davidson.
No that's not it. I played this game in the mid 90s and it definitely was a shuttle not a motorcycle.

Nope that's not it....maybe I'm crazy.

Maybe the rotating station on Williams Space Station. Direct follow up game to Space Shuttle, and lots of similarities.
Well I’m in the club as of today!! It’s a project. I’ll be doing a hardtop eventually after it’s all up and running well. Cab is actually really nice but the PF is beat. Backglass I’d pealing but it’s all there just gotta triple thick it with saran wrap. I’ll get a new glass when I get the hardtop though. MPU isn’t booting right now so I might have to lean on you folks soon.
