I just acquired an Atari Space Riders. When I turn it on, it goes into test mode. I cycle through the tests as described on the instructions. Everything seems to pass. The last thing it says to do is press the test button then flip the power switch off and back on. It just goes back to the first test again in which all the numbers display 8s and the player number cycle over and over. How do I get out of this?

That is not a test mode, that is the Attract mode.

Enter the test modes by pushing (and releasing) the test button on the back of the coin door. Test modes are indicated by the number (1, 2 or 3) displayed in the 4th player score display:

1 - Lamp test and ROM test - All lamps turn on, ROM failure indicated by 1 and/or 2 appearing in the lower left of the score display.
2 - Solenoid Test - starts with 1 displayed in the credit display, and the left bumper repeatedly firing. Progress from through 12 solenoids by hitting Start button.
3 - Switch Test - activated switches are shown in the credit display.

To engage the power with the coin door open, pull the white interlock switch out until it clicks and stays put. (this must be done to go through the tests.)
