It probably goes without saying but I'm a relative newbie.
I recently got my machine working and have now moved on to trying to make it fast and pretty.

I ordered a rubber ring kit and have figured out the locations for almost everything, except...
I'm left with 2 small white parts (maybe called "mini post rings"??).
The only place I can see where it makes sense they should be is at the Super Bonus horseshoe at the top right.
I did get 2 small black (T-shaped) bumpers for the posts at that location and, as there were similar looking bumpers installed there, assumed that was correct and simply replaced them with the new ones. Now, after looking at some photos (none clear enough to be definitive), I'm not 100% sure.
I'm thinking that the white "mini rings" and the black "T bumpers" should BOTH be (somehow - one above the other?) installed. Or, maybe it is an either/or situation (I noticed on photos of some other rubber ring kits, sold on E-Bay, that the black "T" bumpers don't seem to be included - or visible in the kit photo anyway). Some machine photos look like the white rings are installed at this area. I'm confused.
I'm not sure if it's relevant or not but I ordered my kit from The Pinball Resource. I'm guessing it's not an exact science because I am short a few other rings (based on other kits I've seen) and my original configuration didn't match up to some photos I've seen or the (Space Mission) manual for other areas.

I guess what I really should be asking is for someone who has a Space Odyssey/Mission machine, and who knows for sure that the rubber ring configuration is correct, to tell me (or show me with photos) the correct parts/orientation/etc. for this area. I've included a couple of photos of my machine to make sure we're talking about the same area. The "T" bumpers are shown installed and the white "mini rings" are shown just placed on the playfield in front of the posts.

Any help/direction would be most appreciated.

Only place I see a small one on mine is by the spinner.

It's weird.
Even in the professional-looking kits I see on E-Bay, you can see that there are 3 of those small white rings included.

Has anyone else found a place where these should be installed?

Mine only uses one of those.

The correct setup is the two white rings on the side of the target. Unfortunately, you have the wrong post installed there. PBR does sell them. All of the SM on IPDB have the white rings, as does mine. There should also be a white ring installed underneath the bottom apron. This pic is from my Aztec, but all ‘76 & ‘77 Williams EM’s had this installed. You could move one of the black ring post underneath the apron.

Seems odd that both of our games have those weird posts in that spot..

This is how mine is setup.

I checked with three other people with SM, the black post at the top seems to be the norm. Maybe somewhere during production a change was made one way or the other. I’m guessing the black post came first, then they switched to the white. I am assuming this since my Big Deal has the same target setup with white post.
