Space Invaders Top EOS Normally Open

So I understand all the normally closed and normally open EOS's on the main (bottom) flippers, and I understand the top flipper normally closed and what is it used for.

But I am at a loss of what the second normally open EOS is used for on the SECOND (top) flipper. (Space Invaders has a normally open EOS on top flipper even though pictures doesn't show it.)

Anyone care to shed some light on its purpose?

That switch is part of the switch matrix and the game uses it to trigger the flipper laser sound effect:
