Greetings all,

Just got my South Park pin after 7 years of searching for the perfect opportunity.

My sound roms are not working properly and play the wrong sounds or cut off during play, even in the diagnostic.

Looking through the manuals and bulletin's, i notice that on the cpu/sound board that area W6 requires a jumper for 8mb sound rom use.
What i cannot find is what the jumper needs to be; small resistor or just simply a jumper wire.
I've ordered new sound roms, 8mb chips so need to figure this out before they arrive.

Documentation states that when jumper applied its compatible with 4mb or 8mb chips so I should be able to do it now and still play with messed up sound.

Anyone performed this yet?

#644 5 years ago
Quoted from Astill:

if one of the roms is not installed correctly it will be scratchy and missing sounds, make sure all your roms are installed correctly . if you need a new set i can burn you a set for below ebay prices, including profanity sound roms.

I pulled one of the chips that failed during the diagnostic, didn't play completely. Set it back into the socket and tried again, same issue.
Not sure if a new set will help but can't hurt to try.

Ill message you. I'm looking for the latest arcade set, which appear to be on 8mb chips, but I need to know what the manuals mean by add a jumper to W6.

Is it simply a jumper wire or does it require a resistor or some other part to change the board from 4mb to 8mb?
Figured it would be handy to have the info here as none of my searches over the last month have turned up anything about jumper for W6 on the cpu/sound board.

Is there a special bracket that mounts the South Park disclaimer sign on top of the box?

I don't see any pretty drilled holes in mine like I had for mounting Cartman.
What are people doing for the sign mounting?

I've seen the amazing 3d printed holder and led lit sign/characters which I'd love to do someday.

#758 4 years ago
Quoted from hawkeyexx:

There are brackets holding the sign & a screw from inside the back box holding Cartman.
[quoted image][quoted image]

Thank you for the info hawkeyexx. Didn't even consider some simple L brackets. I was envisioning something far too complicated.

Anyone have hankey getting stupid in the up position? Seems hes getting hung up on the toilet lid for some reason. Not all the time but often enough that it's a pain in the ass to pull the glass down and get him back in.

#771 4 years ago

That was supposed to say Hankey getting stuck in the up position. Here's a pic of the part holding hankey on getting hung up on top of the toilet lid. Perhaps the bracket isn't on correctly.

Quoted from latenite04:

That screw at the top isn't supposed to be there. Mr hankey is just mounted with two screws at the bottom of the bracket.[quoted image]

Thank you. Works great without that screw.
Looks like in addition to missing arms hankey also had a screw in his head that didn't belong. Perhaps the upper screw was torn too badly and a prior owner improvised poorly.

#778 4 years ago

While installing my new hankey arms, I found one of the original broken way back in the corner of the pin. Drilled out a hole for the new and rigged up the og. Hopefully they stay intact. So far looks great.

Thanks again Latenite

Some simple stuff to enhance the machine.

Thumb barrell lock, no more keys.

Inspired by another person in this thread, I mounted all the characters and sign to a board painted black. Bolted board to backbox.

Someday I'll go all in like he did and install LED into them as well. Love how his turned out.

Quoted from Williampinball:

Any ideas anyone ? Better then NIB

Pretty sure javagrind answered your very vague question already.

Better than NIB, no one knows what that means. Customizations are up to the owner/player. Not everyone likes LED, or mirrored blades, or custom art, etc..

You are asking a purely hypothetical question over and over about something specifically customized that YOU want.

There are so many mods out there. Best method is to take what we've given you here, find the specific mods you want, keep a list and do some math.

#1000 3 years ago

The UK options are a second set of buttons under the flipper buttons. Pressing the left lifts a post in front of the left drain preventing the ball from going in. Right lifts a right drain post. Both buttons lifts a large post between the flippers preventing a lost ball.

It sounds like you would never lose but, it ads a whole additional layer to the game as the post lifts for a limited time amd it's quite easy to lose with some misfires.

The Pinball Museum in Las Vegas has had one on there for years. It's actually the first SP I ever played on and was confused to find no others had it until a little research turned up why this one had extra stuff.

Quoted from sk8ersublime:

How smooth does the ball come down out the wireform from the cartman VUK? Mine goes side to side majority of the time and sometimes even jumps out of the inlane and down the drain. It kills smooth gameplay for me, so i need to fix it. The tab that connects it to the slingshot screw was broken and I had my uncle weld it back on. It looks like its on correctly, but maybe the angle is off or something?

Mine is pretty smooth, never any behavior like that. I think you are correct that angle may be off a bit. Can you bend it without breaking or maybe toss balls into Cartman while pressing it various directions to see which way it needs to bend?

Found another sweet mod to do today.
Green trees with snow caps.

Replaced all the clear numbers with green then topped with white rubber rings to blend in with the snowy trees of the surrounding artwork. May have to throw a spotlight on them.

Quoted from sk8ersublime:

yea man! That was the first thing I thought about doing when i got my machine, since I did that, ive noticed a bunch more machines with the green posts and white rubbers now lol. Even on some random eBay listings ive seen it.
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/south-park-club-come-on-in/page/9#post-4296077
I still need to get the snowy pinblades though so it pops out better. Pinblades, new cabinet art, and a colorDMD and i think ill be done with my SP lol

I went with Mirrored blades and really like how it turned out. Saw them on machines at the portland retro expo last year and snagged a set from a local Vendor. Really sucks to put it all back together only to find you have fingerprints on the mirrors

I think the last mod besides light up my toppers is under cab LEDs. I have a bunch of strips and controllers arriving for other projects and should have enough left over to put a nice rgb set under. The character mods look really sweet but I'm afraid of overcrowding the playfield.

Seem to have balls getting stuck here as shown in the pic on the one way gate. Not sure what to do to fix, do gates go bad and bend too far back to bounce the shot away over time? I'm perfectly level too.

Quoted from gac:

How does the ball even go through that when it is launched? You would think it would bounce back immediately.

That was my thought but the photos do appear to look different. I don't think I've ever even had thar gate off for any reason even during a full led and rubber install. Soon as I get home I'll take it apart and see whats happening.

Mine was definitely bent back way too far. I broke it trying to bend it back to normal spot, now it just goes right in and autoplunges out. Kind of like it, no more stuck balls

Quoted from ThePinScientist:

Thank you!
Also—any idea what the black cap is for between the flippers in the center drain? Was there a post save option?

The European version of the game has a 2nd set of flippers to control a center post there, as well as left and right drain posts. The pinball hall of fame in bags has this version. I assume it was just filled in for our machines.

Deco Flip & Games on Facebook makes these incredible glass covers. They have a websitr too but none of this stuff is listed there or at least my french isn't good enough to find them.

Thick foam with high resolution matching artwork. Well worth the $, approx $100.

They look so incredible on the machines if you appreciate the art of machines as much as I do.

Why don't you use the plastic hole protector from pin Brothers?

They never made a Kenny protector to my knowledge. The others are great!

Anyone have an idea what a new Mr. Hanky coil assembly, plunger, and associated hardware ball park value would be?

Not a lot, $50 ish. Looks like marcospecialties.com carry it. Literally just search Mr hanky on their site.
