I live in Chesterton, IN. It has a lot of things going for it like small town, good schools, it's clean & has the Indiana Dunes. It's just over the state line in Indiana. If you were hoping to split some of the distance to Chicago it could be an option. Obviously it's a longer commute than the SW Michigan options. I'm sure there are some good options there, I'm just not familiar with them.
