Dear Lloyd,

I am lucky enough to have two Playfields that I have owned for over 20 years as wall art, Incredible Hulk and Buck Rogers. They have never been used and have survived four decades in mint condition. I have always wondered how they left Gottlieb without having ever been installed in a pinball machine. I know Gottlieb had a parts catalog but did that include Playfields? Or maybe they ended up with extras after they stopped production?

How common is it to come across New Old Stock Playfields?

Signed,

Curiously Lucky

Hello Curiously Lucky

Manufacturers always make some extras. In case one has defects. Or as spare parts later for replacement later, usually though distributors, but not for sale normally. And some of those not used might have issues that they decided to not use in a game.

They do show up from time to time. Depending on age. might be common or rare as hens teeth.

Thank you,

LTG : )
