I work as an Auto Tech and buy a lot of Matco tools as they seem middle of the road priced as say, Snap On to Craftsman. Craftsman tools have gone way down in quality over the years, when they break I replace with another brand. If you want to make a quality check compare Craftsman wrenches to Snap On, look how much thicker the box end of the wrench is on Craftsman compared to Snap On. The quality of metal is cheaper therefore it has to be thicker, a real bummer on many tight areas to work in - pinball machines have these areas too. Matco seems to be pretty close in quality to Snap On in quality as far as hand tools go, but are lacking in diagnostic tools which doesn't apply here. Matco seems to usually run about 35% cheaper than Snap On, and is beneficial at least to me because we have a weekly truck visit. Mac tools are similar as well but are usually as expensive as Snap On. If you know an auto shop well just find out when the tool truck comes and go shopping, they will sell to the public as well.
