Hi all,

I have a Sorcerer that seems to have a memory issue. When turning the game off and back on the scores disappear. Every now and then the settings also re-set, like the number of balls, free play setting. I’ve replaced the batteries and made sure that the settings are saved when changing them. Any advice on what I should look at?

Thanks!

Sometimes the battery holder will lose a faceplate. It still looks OK at a glance, but close inspection reveals something missing.

Then you'll need to make a couple of voltage measurements...

I'd just install NV ram or a new battery holder with lithium AA. Every older game I've purchased that's the first thing I usually replace, because it's so corroded the battery isn't making good contact with the plates... or like cody_chunn said it could loose or about to fall off.

you could just try cleaning the plates with cu-tips and alcohol, but your delaying the inevitable.

I just put in some industrial batteries, made no difference, the scores and settings are erased when the game is turned off/back on. Here’s a few photos

What brand NVRAM do you recommend? there’s a couple out there, the prices are quite different, one is $17 and another $40

Thanks!

I use the one from www.pinitech.com. Are you able to desolder the part?

I’ve done some previous board work, I’m not an expert but I’m pretty confident that I can do it.

Excellent. It should be a 6116 part.
