Quoted from topkat:

What has the cause of the wrinkle in the black?

I think I probably just had a small area where the paint got too thick and wrinkled when it dried. That's my guess anyway.

This happens to me all the time because I'm not patient or because i spray too heavy on a final coat. The solvents from the new coat are eating into the paint on the receiving coat and causes the wrinkle.
Obviously you got it back in business but what i learned is thins coats every few minutes, and make sure that can is shaken REALLY well. And if you went heavy on the base coat give it an extra day to cure than what the can says.

Yeah, I try and be mindful of dry times but I guess I pushed it. Weird that it only happened in one small area, but could be other variables at play I suppose. For the record, I used an HVLP sprayer for the base color, then spray paint for stencils.

I did a bad job of posting updates at the end, but Sorcerer is all done now, and I think it looks and plays great! Here are a few pictures of the final product, before I gave it a good final cleaning

Additionally, if anyone needs a buttload of reference photos down the road, here is the album of (almost) all of the pictures I took...and a handful of others I grabbed from the internet. The good, the bad, and the ugly. Good luck!

Thanks, kind of got stumped on where to put that little guy. But I like the solution of securing it to the pf with loop clamps

I can't believe you let that mad man play your new machine! Glad it's playing well.
