Just bought Sopranos, so I guess I'm joining the club!
It's been stored in a dusty warehouse for the past 10 years and needs a big clean up.
I'm going to buy a new plastics set and I've removed the ROMs from the board. They are Italian and version 1.00.

I would like to flash new ones myself but I'm not sure which chips I need. The manual says M27C0400I-I2FI (8MB) for the voice ROMs and 27256 / 27512 (512kb) for the CPU-sound. These are way bigger than the actual bin-files (1MB), and I believe the ones in my machine are smaller. I was able to remove the sticker on the CPU-chip and it says M27C1001-10F1 (128kb). Manual says 27C040 (1MB).

Where do you guys get your new chips from? I do not have a UV-light to reset the ones I have and I'm not really sure if they are OTP and even possible to reset.

Thanks for any feedback.

Thats $82 + shipping for the full set. That's why I want to flash the chips myself. Chip price is about $4.50 a piece.

Quoted from Irishbastard:

Just use your originals, grab a cheap UV eraser (mine was like $8), takes like 15 min to erase them. I listed the required chips a few posts back for display and cpu, but seems like you may need all to change language? I had spares and burnt them, took a few minutes, once I used the right ones (cost is zero if you can do it yourself)

Thanks. Yes, I need the voice chips as well. I'll get an UV-eraser. Some sites mentiones that these chips are OTP (One-time-programmable). Even though they have this UV window. Do you know if they in fact can be erased and flashed again?

Quoted from TomDK:

ROMs, ROMs ... cheap stuff. The horror starts when looking for plastics. I ended up in Russia, fair price but not like original. Poor print, poor colors but NOS were about 300 dollar ...

Yeah, found these on Pinballcenter for 159 euros: http://www.pinball.center/en/shop/pinball-parts/playfield-parts/plastics/6758/plastic-set-for-the-sopranos
Not even the full set. The pin I got had even replaced the plastics earlier so I guess the reproduction quality is low.

Quoted from lasermel:

you'll need the programmer as well to do it yourself.. I'd be glad to do it for you if you send me the chips (only the ones with windows). Send me a PM if interested.
I know you're in Norway, so I don't know the shipping cost... prob $10-15 each way. Seems someone there with a programmer would be able to hook you up tho.

Thank you. Really appreciate your help. I do have a programmer and will have go at it when I get my hands on a UV-light.

Looking for LEDs for my Sopranos. Wonder if I should just get a complete kit or buy them individually. Anyone have a LED-chart or an list of bulbs you have ordered for yours? I have some other pins as well which I also plan to upgrade, so I might go for a bulk order of different colors. Trying to save some bucks instead of buying several kits. Thanks!

I'll get you the list of the ones I purchased from comet. It was not a kit. Give me a day or two and I'll have the list posted.

Thanks! Really appreciated!
