I just joined the club last week.

Just finished shopping it out. Converted to 100% led. Replaced the rubber with Titan reds.

Future plans include mirror blades and Pin Stadium lighting with red flashers.

The safe was not registering hits. Turned out both switches had broken solder joints. Easy fix.

I've had this game on my wish list for a few years. I'm so happy I finally found one.

Does everyone think LED OCD is a must in this game? I am looking at one tomorrow and just wondering what kind of $$ I am going to have to put into this when I get home and switch over to LEDs.
thanks!

I just picked up mine a little after the LAX show. I'm running non-ghosting LEDs throughout without the LED OCD with no issues or feel the need for one. I am waiting on some mirror blades and Pinstadium lights with a red flasher to play up the Bada Bing aspect of the game.

Would you mind posting a picture when you get the Pinstadium installed? I’ve been on the fence about adding it to Sopranos

I'll post up some pics when they show up.

The ghosting on the inlanes and rollover lanes was very noticeable and problematic.

The inserts are mostly 555s with some 44/47s on the larger inserts.

I can't be sure, but I think I was one shot away from beating The Boss.
Only needed one shot to the center spinner.
Slow roller SDTM had me cursing more than the game on Adult Setting.

Some LEDs are polarized. Switch a bulb around and see if that works.

Have you beaten The Boss yet? I've gotten close, but haven't beaten it yet.

You only get the one ball to try and finish The Boss wizard mode.
Once you drain, you're progress is wiped clean.

Think of it as a mob style execution for an unsuccessful power grab.

Once you have Under Boss lit, you need to have all of the red light categories lit: Episodes, Bada Bing!, Truck Heist, Food, Safe, R.I.P., Super Jackpot and Meadowlands. That starts The Boss wizard mode. Draining before completing all the categories doesn't reset your rank. Once you start The Boss mode, draining will reset your rank.

The good news is, once you are in the wizard mode you get a multiball going. You can also add-a-ball by completing F-I-S-H. Getting it down to a 2 ball multi makes it a bit more manageable and allows you a backup ball when going for dangerous shots. When you get down to a single ball, complete FISH for add-a-ball.

Granted it all sounds good in theory, seeing as I have yet to complete The Boss.

Apparently tilting on The Sopranos is punishable with Sleeping with the Fishes.
Tony doesn't play around.

Finally beat Boss!
Had a so so game going after 2 balls then blew it up on the third.
Beat Boss and ended up with 362M.

Watched the season finale of Season 2 before starting the game.

What’s your game plan to try for boss? I’ve been trying to knock out modes first, but that isn’t going well.

I never aim at the drop target, but always shoot for Stugots when a random shot drops the target. The multiball is worth it and you have to get the Super Jackpot to qualify for Boss.

Shoot for Meadowlands any time I'm cradled on the left flipper. It's the hardest shot on the table for me.

Jam on the spinner whenever the Pork Store is lit. The freebies come in handy.

I'm constantly trying to get a multiball and shoot for red arrows and the safe.

Episodes take care of themselves for the most part.

Most of the requirements for Boss get taken out without concentrating, it's the Super Jackpot and Meadowlands that are always the last to go.

The places I get drains from are:
- a fastball out of the pops that bumps off the ball guide and drains down the middle
- a slowball down the right orbit that gets bumbed from the Pork Store standup and goes sdtm
- a bricked shot off the drop target that airballs left, right or sdtm

Of course all of this doesn't always work, but then again nothing in pinball always works.

I forgot, during multiball, light F-I-S-H and hit the fish for add-a-ball.
When i qualify for Boss, I play the 4 ball multi for a while until i get down to 2 balls. At that point, I make sure FISH is lit and nail it when i drop down to 1. Makes those dangerous shots not so dangerous.

Just installed an alternate translite and a red gel filter.
I'm liking the way it looks.

I haven't seen that happen.
No free multiballs... gotta earn'em.

Hey guys - So I finally got around to updating my settings and I noticed a setting for the optional Q24 coil that can be set for ticket, coin counter, or knocker. Obviously, I'd love a real knocker (and did one using the UK ticket dispenser setting on my Viper Night Drivin). My question is - Since the power line is only for 5v and that's nowhere near enough power - is there a special knocker coil for this transistor, or do I need to run a power line off another coil to get it to work correctly?

Quoted from Kawydud:

Are you maybe forgetting to put a diode in place?

That sounds right to me. Without a diode in place, when the power is cut to the coil, the collapsing magnetic field generates a high voltage spike that would be sent back to the driver transistor. Look at the schematic for one of your other coils and you will most likely see a diode, resistor and capacitor that prevents the spike and slowly drains off whatever voltage remains.

Those are capacitors.
They are used on switches to extend the duration of the closing the switch. Not physically, but it lengthens the time the switch matrix senses that the switch is closed. That makes it easier for the cpu to know a switch has been closed. Mostly used in early SS games for rollover switches and other fast momentarily closed switches. Won't hurt being in a modern game, but isn't really needed.

Just acquired a Sopranos and I love it. However, the strippers don’t twirl. They try to move a little so I replaced the belt. Still don’t move. Any ideas? I know the motor is hard to find. Thanks!

Is the replacement belt dried out and stiff like the old belt?
Does the motor turn?

#712 4 years ago
Quoted from garbr95:

It broke the replacement belt also. It was the original replacement that came with the machine. Seemed a bit stiff. I believe the motor turns since the girls do move a little bit. I ordered 3 new belts from Marco so we’ll see what happens. I don’t see how a smooth belt like that can have any grip though.

I'd say you'll be fine with the belts
