Quoted from radial_head:Also, dunno about all of you, but I'm now on my third safe toy. The original one in my game was busted. And during its time on location it's blown through TWO of the ones from Pinball Life. Pretty pricey part to have get torn apart every couple of months. On this most recent one I had my friend do some extra heavy duty (and messy as all getout but good enough) welds so it doesn't happen again.
Really weak point in the design if you ask me.
Also shoutout to Alan at Wedgehead who helped me work through tweaking this safe mech to work really nicely. Still haven't been but hope I can come visit PDX soon and play.

I bought the same part from PBL, had it break in the same spot, asked for a replacement and to their credit they sent it out quickly and for free. That one broke too, same way, a few weeks later. PBL subtly implied it was a me problem and they wouldnt replace it but did refund it.
Brought it to a local machine shop and had it over welded as you did and its been fine since over many plays.
Still happy with PBL, but i am glad it is not in fact a me problem.
