I applaud your efforts. Having to splice wires that were not cut in a staggered sequence is a pain and will look like a snake swallowed a rabbit.

Might as well get one of those massive couplers someone had on a game a while ago. Wish I could remember what it was called!

You couldn't use a plug - unlike a lot of games, the wire length in the original had almost no slack... there was no way to reattach them directly to each other, so I had to run a patch wire for every single wire. Trust me, If I could have stopped at 60 soldered joins instead of 120, I would have.

So I ordered schematic from Marco Friday but thought id throw this out there in case amyone could help. Game plays well and I tweaked / cleaned some mechs replaced bulbs. Replaced a socket . last night my 2 outlanes stopped registering the 10000 and gold advance. Checked wiring on both switches but w/o schematic I'm stymied .thx for any help. this is on my prospector.

Sonic owners! Are your plastics reverse printed (on bottom, like normal) or direct printed on the top? My first super straight had them on the top and I assumed all sonics were like that, it shopping my 3rd and noticed the printing is on the bottom

I just joined the Sonic club with a Mars Trek last month. I’m working on shopping it, and I’m in need of an NOS Sonic flipper. My two right flippers are the original white flippers with the ‘S’ on the top. I know it’s a long shot, but I’m also open to buying one off someone if they don’t mind swapping to the Williams flippers. Thanks!

Now there is something you don't see everytime....
Paper work included with the game.
You should scan the lot and send a copy to the ipdb for safe keeping.
Hard to come by...

I have a Sonic Joker's Wild. The first 4 pics on the IPDB are of the machine that I own. It was the previous owner that posted those pics, I bought it from him over 15 years ago. Remarkable craftmanship that Sonic did on the playfields. 43 years later and it still looks brand new.

The Sonic backglasses and playfields are amazing. If only the same could be said of the crappy particle board cabinets lol

So I’ve got a Super Straight question for you guys out there.
My game seems to be totally complete, but what I believe is the bonus counter is all jacked up. It’s missing a plunger and there’s weird green crap all over it. It seems to be causing my game to reset endlessly. When I adjust it by hand it stops.

Also had the weird issue that the chimes got locked on when trying to fix the resetting issue, and 2 of the chime plungers were hovering. Not fully extended and you could push them and they moved easily. Not bound up at all. What the hell would cause them to float in such a strange manner? Bad sleeves?

Might be the wrong coil too... I'd replace that and find a plunger. Take off the spider contacts and clean the contacts with metal polish. If that fails, scotch Brite

If you need the manual for Super Straight I have added it to my website as a free download for the next day or two. This is not a way to get traffic and sell you stuff, just the easiest way to share the info. The scans are decent and the files are large so emailing it is impractical. Just join the club. Got a bit of work to do on it. Some one painted over the cabinet artwork with white latex paint. The guy I bought it from has gotten most of one side done before he sold it to me. I'll continue the work. There are also some repairs that I need to do to the bottom of the particle board. It's starting to get a little bit crumbly so I plan to reinforce it with wood glue and sawdust.

What flipper rebuild kit on pbr is the correct one for
My prospector. I took two old plungers off my flash and used
them assuming they were the same but my flippers have less
travel(rangeofmotion) now.

Seems like the flash plungers were a bit too long.

Williams em kit..1969-77. My advice would be to replace both plungers/links, coil sleeves and then clean/adjust the eos switch on the game. That's usually all that needed on these.

My Cherry Bell has 28 1/2.

I believe Sonics were made with William parts, so William legs work fine. My Faces had Gottlieb length legs on it when I first got it, and it felt too tall. Swapped out to new William legs and it feels perfect.

Reference post for a fellow pinsider. Sonic back door 25 1/2 tall, 27 7/8 wide, 5/8 thick. Lock hole centered across and 1 7/8 down from top.

Facebook marketplace around London Ontario has a populated prospectors playfield for sale. I'd buy it for spare parts but not for 500..
Gotta say, these games might have had the best playfield quality of any game back then.

UPDATE:

I was looking more closely around at every unit, just to see if I could spot anything out of the ordinary, and eventually noticed a washer sitting atop the bottom set of leaf switches of the relay directly behind the big stepper in the bottom of the cabinet…

…marked RESET RELAY.

So that washer (which must’ve come off of some unit attached to the playfield) was shorting out the reset relay, causing the game to continuously (attempt to) reset. Fun!

But hey, at least I saw it and have it resolved now

Hello, everyone! Just joined the club with an awesome Prospector! Got it home, has been playing fine, then randomly during a game, the two units pictured started running (5 clicks every time), non-stop, and that’s all the game will do since (even when turning it off and back on, this is all it does when it’s on). These two units just run, in unison, 1-2-3-4-5, 1-2-3-4-5, 1-2-3-4-5, continuously.

I’m not sure what it’s trying to do, but the unit attached to the playfield is the BALL COUNT UNIT. I don’t see anything that scores 5,000 that looks like it’s stuck on…not sure what might be going on here.

Am new to EMs, and would love any help/ideas you all might have!
