I recently picked up a mars trek and I'm looking for the yellow pop bumper caps...anyone know where to find them or what caps on Marco would be the right fit?
Thanks,
PJ

I need one for my super straight too, haven't had any luck finding ones with the ink on top. PBR had blank ones that looked like they'd fit, iirc
Quoted from Badamack:Who knows what flipper rebuild kit works with sonic mars trek?
The flipper parts are 100% compatible with Williams EM parts. In my experience, a new coil sleeve, plunger/link and properly adjusted EOS switch are all that is needed. Unless something is broken or missing, the full kit is usually overkill.
As for the pop bumper caps, I do not believe you will find new replacements. You will have to find used ones or use Williams pop bumper caps (which will fit perfectly).
You could pick up new blank caps from PBR and just do a water slide decal and scan the image of what you need it to say on top as a friend of mine did with his Prospector.
Sonic Butterfly for sale.
Someone posted this link in another thread. If you live near Portland OR this Butterfly might work for you for $250.00
I had a nice Mars Trek that I sold. I had a Birdman here that I worked on for a friend of mine. I had never seen one before. Like most Sonics, it had a beautiful playfield and backglass, but the cabinet was junk. I got it running for him and he sold it to the guys that run Pinburg. I believe it's still there.

Yeah they still have it. I believe the bottom is not falling though the cabinet however. I talked to a couple of them and they said it could be something sold dude to the cab condition, but then I guess it was voted against when it got down to it.
I have a Super Straight in the basement ready to come back to life I picked up this summer. I really like the backglass and playfield. How does one improve the cabinet? Im almost afraid to touch it.

We need a "vids guide to repairing sonic cabinets"

Here is a Recel Lady Luck with cab problems being repaired. Recel, like Sonic, is Spanish and made its cabs from the particle board.

You all can say what you want about particle board cabs, but I am very impressed with my Cherry Bell cab. I had to move CB the other day and I used four individual wheel dollies. My floor is a bit uneven and one of the dollies rolled out from underneath a front leg. That cab is solid; It did not flex at all and I could have finished the move with just three dollies. Just don't get it wet and you are golden.

Mine's already been wet, that's the problem

As it is with most. A decent carpenter can remake the bad parts but if you don't have the skills it will cost a few bucks. When I got mine it had been stored on the back in a wet space. I was afraid if I put the head on it the neck might just collapse inside itself. Sonic = best play fields, worst cabinets. Good luck!

Ah, come on, man. Any wooden pin cab propped on its back in a wet space is not going to survive its time in storage without needing some serious repair. Plywood starts delaminating and warping and will generally just turn to crap.

True. However, I am certain the Sonics were built with the cheapest particle board known to man. I had a 6M$M I played for years with a back that was peeling layer by layer. Full disclosure: I know at least Bally used it sometimes as well. The back of a Space Invaders I own was crappy particle board as well as the lightboard of my 8BD. I guess it's cheaper than good ply.

My Williams laser ball is made of the stuff too. Much denser than sonic though
I'm back in the club. After owning a Mars Trek Prospector in the past, I acquired a Cherry Bell from cottonm4 today. He was on a trip to get a pin in Mississippi so he brought down the Cherry Bell for me. It will be a while before I get to set it up but I can't wait. Thanks Craig!

Thank you, Mr. Flagg. She is a beautiful machine. I'll always have good memories of that back glass, but alas, I am just not cut out to be an EM guy. Enjoy!
Quoted from Schusler:Has any Sonic owners ever come across a Jai Alai?
Never seen one before, however I do have a backglass for this game
Anyone made stencils for Prospector by any chance? I'm thinking mine might just need a whole new cabinet, but don't see any place online that sells Sonic stencils, and Sonic artwork is pretty intricate, looks like a pain to trace

Contact pinball pimp he'll make them for you.
Quoted from EM-PINMAN:Contact pinball pimp he'll make them for you.
He says Sonics were actually silkscreened, not stenciled, and the art is way too intricate for him to trace and make into stencils. Guess I might have to make a decal or something...
Quoted from bflagg:Got Cherry Bell set up last night. Still haven't played it. Need to set it for free play, replace the shooter springs, replace the locks.
Wow, my Cherry Bell (2 months old) is sitting next to my Space Mission.
Bringing home a Mars-Terk soon.
Fired up cherry bell. She needs a serious tuneup. i have other projects to finish before I start on this one. Hopefully a good going through it and she'll be playing like she should.
I was a bit impatient so I decide to look into the Cherry Bell. Definitely a few lamp sockets have issues, the credit unit was frozen solid. Cleaned and got that, the player unit and match units working. Pulled the bottom board today as the game always played 4 player and did many other weird things. Found both the coin and ball count stepping and resetting ok, but a better inspection found the coin unit had issues. The player 4 switch was on the wrong side of the actuator and someone pulled the contact wheel off and installed it 180 degrees off. The relays and score motor switches look good, but I'll polish the contacts while it's out.

Err. Hmm. cough--cough. That someone would have been me. I made alignment marks but someway I still screwed it up.

It's all good. Simple mistake and I don't mind going through it. Really happy with the condition overall. Thanks again!
Quoted from bflagg:For some reason it scores when it kicks the ball into the shooter lane so I'll have to track that down but so far so good.
You have a switch on the Playfield gaped to close and the vibration is setting it off. See what it scores next time it does it and that will give you a lead on what switch it is.
I am posting a working correct Super Straight very soon.
If someone in the club is interested first - PM me.
Location - Boston area.

I can , just not for a week or so.
Got a FACES about a month or so back. Love the play and how important the right bonus selection is. Hoping to get a prospector soon.
Hey Forum, Can anybody say what an average condition playable MARS TREK would be worth in the Pacific Northwest?
Thanks in advance for info!

I used to live in Washington up until 4 years ago. When I lived there I had a Mars Trek that I bought and also sold for $650 that was really nice. I'd say as long as the cabinet isn't bad $4-600? Fun game, wish I still had it.
My Mars Trek has them. With the pop bumper off, I tried to clean the are up with ME/Alcohol. It took most of the crud away, but not all of it. I feared I would mess up the playfield trying to remove them. I justed at Butterfly and it has non-adhesive mylar. I can't see anything on my Cherry Bell.
Getting ready to ditch my Prospector, if there is any interest. It will likely be at the Ann Arbor show this weekend.
Quoted from wolftownjeff:Cherry Bell for sale at Allentown and will be on free play on the floor.
Cool, always wanted to play one of these.
