I'm thinking about cleaning this coin mech from a 1934 Rock-Ola World Series game but thought the usual 50/50 water/Simple Green would not be good with the brass & metal rubbing. Has anyone used just WD-40 in your sonic cleaner?

Nate from Buckwerx.com said it usually isn't a good idea to take these mechs apart because of the fragile springs etc. Could I just make sure it's dry after it soakes?
